Why he wasn't a citizen.

Upon his return to the United States on July, 17, 2012, he had grown a long, thick beard.[46][102][36][43] His life took on an "increasingly puritanical religious tone" with "Islamist certainty."[103] He appeared, to some family members, to become an "extremist.

After he came back, he created a YouTube channel with playlist links to two videos which were tagged under a category labeled "Terrorists", including one to Islamic militant Abu Dujana; the videos were later deleted.[104][105] CNN and the SITE Institute found a screen grab of one of the videos, which featured members of the militant Islamist group Caucasus Emirate from the North Caucasus.[105] He also linked to jihadi videos on a profile attributed to him on the Russian social networking site Vkontakte, including ones by a radical cleric and a Syrian jihadist video posted on April 9, 2013; in one video, voices can be heard singing in Arabic as bombs explode.[96][106][22] He recently also shared videos of lectures from a radical Islamic cleric.[22] He frequently read extremist sites, including al-Qaida's Yemen affiliate's Inspireonline magazine.

At some point he applied for U.S. citizenship but a record of his 2011 FBI interview led Homeland Security to hold up his application.[88]

so much for watching for the big red flags..

the more we learn about these two the worse the FBI and the homeland money pit appears.. :?

It appears that there were several chances to "watch" him,.. and all were ignored..

The biggest red flag should have been the RUSSIANS warning to the FBI about him being radicalized. I'm sure Russians have enough to do that they are not going to send the FBI a false tip just to see them waste time on an investigation of a innocent guy looking to take out US citizenship. Janet Air Head Napolitano said when he left for Russia Homeland received a ping on his name but by the time he came back the investigation was closed so there was no ping on him re-entering to the states. So if she is telling the truth and the investigation was closed why was his app for citizenship held up due to a closed case the supposedly found nothing. And if it found something that held up his citizenship why was his case closed so no ping was receive when he re-entered the States?

There was a big screw up when dealing with him and the Congress needs to get to the bottom of this before Homeland and the FBI are responsible for another terrorist setting up shop in the US.

this no ping crap is because they dropped the ball...

when my wife leaves the country her passport and alien ID are scanned...

when she returns.. her photo and fingerprints are take and her passport and alien ID are rescanned

if there was any thing in the system ..it would have pinged..

so they had to actually DROP the case and remove any notifications..

my wife still gets asked about a incorrect annotation from when she entered the country,... 27 years ago...
