We don't have any official numbers yet from the FEC but Chris Cillizza reports that Governor Palin's PAC has raised around $2.1 million in 2009 (the PAC was formed in late January of 2009). Cilliza also notes the following:
Sarah PAC sent no direct mail -- a potential treasure trove of small-dollar donations for the former governor who is beloved by the grassroots of the party -- and raised the majority of her money via the Internet and small events. For the 11 months that Sarah PAC has existed, she has received contributions from more than 14,000 donors
For the sake of comparison, in 2009, Mitt Romney's PAC raised $2.9 million in 2009, Tim Pawlenty's PAC raised $1.3 million in 2009, and Mike Huckabee's PAC raised around $800,000.
Andy Barr from Politico also
reports that a Palin source says that her goal this year is "make a difference, title or not.”
Update: Some unintelligent people want to compare the amount of money that Hillary Clinton raised in her 2008 presidential campaign with the amount of money that Sarah PAC raised in 2009. Most reasonable people would conclude that the appropriate comparison is between Hillary Clinton's PAC in 2005 with Governor Palin's PAC in 2009. When comparing these numbers, one sees that the amount Palin's PAC raised from individual contributions in one year almost tied the amount that Hillary's PAC raised from individual contributions in 2005-2006, a two-year period.
Update #2:
information regarding who she donated to in the second half of 2009 is now available.
