This is sickening. Thanking God for bringing the world Michael Jackson? I wonder if his victims are thanking God?

The man was never convicted.

He was found not guilty by a jury....

No I'm NOT saying that.

I'm saying that he was tried and apparently the evidence could not prove anything was done that was considered illegal against these ' boys'......thus no victims, according to the law.

I see. My bad. Jacko was a true American hero. He is a figurehead for everything that made America great.

No, you are wrong about who is going overboard. It was your government that gave a highly publicized tribute to a known child molester. And you have no problem with that ???

The Gov't is not doing anything.

CNN is wearing themselves out with it.......and I'm sure many other stations will also. But they are not gov't owned.

There is no national holiday or moment of silence or flags lowered or anything of the sort.

The mail will run, banks are open, life moves on.

Where did you get that idea anyway?

Well I guess ignorance has no shame or bounds - evidently you didn't watch the video clip at the head of this thread???? That seems pretty public and government-like to me or maybe I just don't understand your political system???

But here's the catch - if anyone would have not complied, they would likely have been labeled "racist".

"Seems" is the operative word here in your sentence.

You're like Husker...if it's on YouTube..it must be true!!

Yes, it's a public observance by those who wish to do so......it has NOTHING to do with gov't.

Now the local gov'ts will provide security in the way of police etc I'm sure but that will be it. I do know that the city of LA is asking for donations to pay for the extra security and have asked the Jacksons to chip in also. Whether they will or not...I have no clue.

I said earlier on a thread long moved down the line, that it's a shame that the man was so plagued and troubled as he was very talented......BUT....the greater issue is the death of Billy Mays and his heart disease issues , one that he knew nothing about.

I have to admit the media is going overboard here on Micheal Jackson as they do with every celebrity. This is celebrity coverage, not good media coverage. There are lots of stories to tell out there and unfortunately they go with the "safe" ones instead of stories that make a difference as far as a government operating correctly.

Half the politicians in D.C. seem to be on the take (or enough in both parties so the oligarchs get their way no matter what) and all the media can focus on is Micheal Jackson.

This is Nero fiddling while Rome is burning. It is a diversion for the real media to play for the masses watching in the Coliseum while the city is on fire.

There are too many comments about this whole deal.

This is sort of like having shows such as "Access Hollywood" or "Entertainment Tonight" shoved down your throat. If you tune in to the radio to hear news, you hear about MJ. You either turn off the radio and miss all news or you have to bear with it.

We got this with Brittany Spears, Madonna and a host of others in the past.

Now we hear about the White House tributes too.

Nothing against MJ, but I'd appreciate it if the news could cover something more.

It is a CSPAN video uploaded to Youtube. 4 Black Congressman paying tribute to MJ, others standing for a moment of silence. Willful ignorance on your part Kola

So, did your government show respect to a known pedophile or not?? Just a simple yes or no would do???

Just as an aside, feel free to start a thread about Billy Mays' heart problems.

The paid tribute to someone of suspicious character. Kolan will hang on to the fact that he was not convicted. But that does not matter, the man was shady when it came to children and it is common knowledge. Our Politicians should avoid giving him that kind of respect!

Not to mention he was a confirmed drug abuser!

Gee I can see that I should have given you a "MAYBE" option so you wouldn't have had to make a liar of yourself yet again.

Michael admitted he slept with little boys that were not relatives in a TV interview. Just because he had enough money to pay the parents off doesn't change the fact he admitted to sleeping with little boys. SICK men sleep with little boys not well adjusted healthy men.

Add to that only a sick man would do what Michael did to his own body. He was born a very cute little black boy and dies a very strange looking white man that ADMITTEDLY slept with little boys, end of story. May he rest in Peace And all the little boys of the world live in peace knowing there is one less sicko trying to get them into bed.

Not a "maybe". Obama has a better method; "We're looking in to that but". That method worked great during the election debates and no matter what he answered, he had an out. Who is the "we" in "we're" and what was the final determination? The world will never know!
