Why Would She Say This?

Ms. Zer0 said when younger, she was accused of "talking like a white girl". She said this to some school kids recently.

Why would she say this? I have tried to configure the statement in several different scenarios and contexts, yet cannot come up with a justifiable reason for her to make such a statement.

Good or bad, why would she say this?

Is she trying to portray herself as whiter than the usual black?

Was she trying to say she was discriminated against because of her accent?

ETC, ETC, ETC................. Why?

As usuual, you took this out of context to serve your racial purpose.

First lady Michelle Obama visited one of the poorest neighborhoods in the nation's capital Thursday, hoping her example would help encourage struggling, young high school students.

"And when one student asked her, "How did you get to where you are now?" she credited, in part, her command of the language.

"I remember there were kids around my [Chicago] neighborhood who would say, 'Ooh, you talk funny. You talk like a white girl.' I heard that growing up my whole life. I was like, 'I don't even know what that means but I am still getting my A.'"

So Alice, can you tell us what she meant, by the statement you posted?

Was she saying that Caucasins speak better than African Americans, and that is why she excelled?

difficult to post it?

I do not have the patience to spoon feed supposedly intelligent people...especially when these people already know the answer and simply want to try to have their 15 minutes of message board fame by runnin' their hate mongering heads.

She credits her command of the language, then goes on to say the kids in her neighborhood, said she talked like a "white girl".

Is she sending the message that to get an "A", you need to expand your language skills, and speak like a "white Girl"?

I think she is doing a responsible thing here! She has obviously learned that society values proper language skills/education, something that came naturally to her, but was foreign in her "Hood"..

Alice, is this what she is saying?
