Why you're paying more at the pump

If your house is worth a lot more now than it was two years, are you going to sell it for what is was worth or the market. You lowly price gouger!! Anyone who sells an asset for what it cost instead of what it is worth is an economic idiot.

My house is not important. Gasoline, oil, is necessary in our economy. If the price of wheat on the commodity market reached $10 a bushel, you can bet the Federal government would be investigating. Why aren't they doing the same with the oil industry?

how about we just let all the automakers produce whatever kinds of cars they want and let consumers buy whatever kinds of cars they want? If GM won't make what buyers want, they'll go bankrupt, and good riddance.

This is what seems to be happening with GM people like the Japanese cars better than what GM is making.

With the USA subsidizing the foreign auto makers like they are, ALL of the domestic makers will be bankrupt soon. You will get your wish.

Cowpuncher,
dis is much worse than an economic idiot. He/she/it is an unpatriotic, anti-military economic idiot. And did I mention dis is also a pompous, arrogant, ignoramus with anti-social tendencies who calls folks bad names when they don’t agree with the vomit he/she/it posts?

If I left out any derogatory statements to slam this creep with, it’s because I’ve had a long day in the lambing shed and over-used most of the same names on several uncooperative ewes.

OK, dis, this next is addressed to you:
I think oil companies will build more piplines when it's profitable for them to do so, just like they'll build more refineries when it's profitable.
I just told you how the companies in the Williston Basin are taking a beating because they can ship their oil with the existing pipelines. Or are they just taking that 50% cut in profits because they feel sorry for us?
BS. There are the same number of refineries working in the US today as there were two years ago.
You darn right there are the same number of refineries as there were two years ago. I just told you that NO REFINERIES HAVE BEEN ALLOWED TO BE BUILT FOR THIRTY YEARS. Not since 1976!!! Did you hear me this time????
BS. The "profit" on a barrel of oil depends on who's selling it. The big oil companies get a lot of oil from leases already contracted. Their costs haven't gone up, but they're getting several times as much for that barrel of oil as they did two, three years ago. And you're trying to tell me their "profit" is the same. Get real. I understand profit fine. I understand price gouging even better and that's what's happening at our gas pumps today. There's no way the oil companies can justify the prices we're paying. Gasoline is down a nickel here since Bush proposed investigating price gouging. Since no one really believes he'll do it, the price probably won't go down much more.

Dis, if I didn’t already know that your stupidity has no limits, these latest posts of yours leave no doubt as to what an absolute idiot you really are - not to hurt your feelings or anything...

The 8 to 9 cent profit I quoted – I suppose you think that came from some “flaky right wing whacko”? Nope. Directly from one of your heroes, Dick Durbin in an interview on ABC!!!

Does a 9 cent profit seem like an obscene margin to you? Have you ever done business in the private sector or have you been living off the government all your life?

And no, the price is not going to go down in the foreseeable future, even if God himself conducted the investigation.

I don’t have the time to try to explain the laws of supply and demand to anyone as thick-skulled as you obviously are, but as long as the rest of the world is willing to pay the going price for oil, no matter what country it comes from, the price is NOT going to go down.

Just take my word for it, okay?

That's not my wish I have never owned a foreign auto. My wish is that domestic makers could fugure out what the public wants then make it. I'm always hearing about how good the quailty of Toyota is. GM could make one as good or better. Maybe people are just buying Toyota hype don't know never owned one.

In the past few years, wheat has been more than $6.00 per bushel and it didn't raise a brow. Wheat is on the rise right now due to the drought in the wheat states. We are looking a a total loss on 1200 acres of wheat so it won't help us if it gets to $100 per bushel.

On your previous statement that the government would get interested if bread prices got to $10.00 per loaf. A 20 ounce loaf of bread has about that much wheat in it and the farmer gets about 6 or 7 cents for the wheat to make a loaf of bread. If wheat prices tripled, the farmers share would reach as much as 20 cents.

By the way, your house has everything to do with it. A market price is a market price and selling for less unless it is a distress sale is plain stupid - even for Exxon.
