Wierd Wierd Weather

Yesterday they had tornadoes in Oregon :???: Georgia and Florida had lower temps than Montana :???:
And while most of Montana basked in the 40's and 50's-- our little northeast corner stayed "Little Siberia" and never did warm up above 20....

Then last evening we got hit with freezing rain-- and this morning I see most the roads in eastern Montana are black ice or emergency travel only....
Old Ma Nature is sure playing some games with us....

Weird all right. My daughter worked last night so she got on the road a little early to get to Plentywood before it rained much. She had to work again tonight so she is staying down instead of risking the roads. Here at the ranch I don't think we really got much rain altho we did get some. No sense taking the risk if not necessary.

OUR LITTLE VALLEY HAS BEEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A "WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY" WITH PREDICTED 7-10 INCHES OF SNOW FOR THE LAST 24 HOURS AND YET NOT ONE FLAKE OF THE WHITE STUFF HAS FALLEN AND THE STARS WERE OUT THIS MORNING WHEN I CAME TO WORK....  JUST HEARD FROM A FRIEND IN HAMILTON WHO SAYS HE HAS ALMOST 3" OF THE LOVELY WHITE STUFF IN HIS YARD SO FAR!! SUPPOSED TO GET DOWN RIGHT "CHILLY" THE NEXT WEEK, THOUGH.....

Rain, snow, freeze, thaw. Repeat. Repeat.

Hubby knocked himself out for a few seconds last night after hitting a patch of ice.

Oh man that can be bad! And here I thought I was badly done by for doing a (free style) pretzel dance on an icy tractor track!

Ya I think old Ma Nature has been hitting the bottle again...
My wife has a Dr.s appointment and tests in Billings today- and then having surgery tomorrow...She and two of the daughters originally planned to drive down early today-- but with the freezing rain forecast left yesterday afternoon... I'm sure glad she did....

Everything here is coated with ice...Feed truck looked like a popsicle this morning... Steps on the loader tractor were covered with a 1/4 inch of ice

Gee I hope everything is alright and goes well for Mrs.OT.
You be careful too.

Just something to think about, how many different volcanos erupted this year? I think 5.

we couldn't get the pickup and stock trailer out of the hard this morning without pulling it with the tractor to the flat even in 4x4.

With the snow we have and the last few days above freezing there is good chance the snow will crust too hard for the cows to graze through. We missed OT's rain, that's alright since rain in Dec. is never a good thing in this part of the world. I'd send all my snow down there if I could.

I don't know what is causing it- but its sure weird.. Looking at the US radar today-- the snow/freezing rain we had is now in ND and stretchs all the way down to Georgia

Cris- Grandma is having surgery on her neck... She has had an arm that goes numb on her- and they found she has some nerves being pinched off in the neck vertabrea- so they need to ream them out- and fuse a couple- and hopefully she will be as good as new :D .....

I was hoping to be able to get away with her when she had the surgery- but this early winter- and feeding two bunches of cows- has put a hold on that.. (Also was hoping to sneak over and take in the Chase Hawks Roughstock rodeo on Saturday  )..But she has 3 daughters and several grandkids down there to take care of her before they hopefully can bring her home on Sunday....

Best of luck to your wife, OT. I hope she heals quickly and the
surgery is a success.

Thanks FH...
I don't think I've seen a winter in quite awhile where the humidity has stayed so high- and so much fog- even on the cold days.... My old buddy Arthur Itis just loves it- especially when its damp and cold-- but I'm getting tired of all the aches and pains- and being a fumble finger dropping everything.....
That dry weather of Texas sounds better every day sometimes...

Wife is doing good !! Surgery took an hour longer than they they thought and Doc said he had to go in from both the front and rear of her neck- which happens sometimes because of age (wait til I tell her that her Doc said she is old)... But anyway the girls say she is doing as expected- and the Doc said she will probably still get out of the hospital tommorrow evening or Saturday morning and be able to come home on Sunday.....

Saturday is her birthday- Hell of a way to spend your birthday.... :( :(

Getting old is Hell- but its still better than the alternative :D

Had a freezing fog come rolling in last night.
Still here this morning.
Suppose to snow again on Saturday, but knowing the weathermen might get nothing.

Grandma got out of the hospital this afternoon- has to spend the night in Billings and then the girls can bring her home tomorrow...She says she has a little discomfort in her neck- but little pain (altho they told her day 3-4 are the worst)...
Doc says she can't lift anything heavier than her checkbook for two weeks ( I need to have a talk with that Doc   )

Foggy/hazey or snowing here much of the day--We're having 30 Below chill factors again with the temp already down to 10 Below tonight with 10-15 mph WNW winds... :(

Glad your wife is getting along well. Her doctor does seem to have a sense of humor. :)
