I don't know who to thank or blame today for the weather...This morning was beautiful sunshine with no wind-near 40 degrees- a beautiful change from our 30 Below stuff.... Then about 2 this afternoon it all of a sudden it started raining  Some areas around us got as much as 1/2 an inch    Then the rain turned to huge wet snowflakes which are still coming down- sometimes you couldn't see 50 feet in front of you...Temp is down to 34- and dropping-supposed to get down around 5-10 and its going to be a skating rink in the morning...And now they have a winter storm warning out...

A STRONG WINTER STORM WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA MONDAY AFTERNOON
AND CONTINUE OVER THE AREA THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING. THE PERIOD
FOR HEAVIEST SNOW LOOKS TO OCCUR MONDAY NIGHT WHEN OVER 6 INCHES
OF SNOW IS POSSIBLE. SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF BY
TUESDAY MORNING.

But since this rain- we won't have to worry about any of the snow we have blowing....

Was the same way here, but since we are a bit farther south it took a bit longer to hit us. Not as much rain and the snow has stopped.
Was rather fun listening to the county road crews talking today on where they were and who just slid in the ditch and which road was now cleared.
Poor guys had to pull out of some areas yesterday due to the blowing snow.

Greg and I are just thinking about getting ready to head to town for a funeral of a good friend-co-worker of mine. Out of nowhere a blizzard has blown in...should be a fun trip to and from town :?

Rain usually ends all our snowstorms now. We had about 2'of snow until it started raining Fri night. The only good thing is I did not have to shovel off the roof.

I was also able to drive to the house. We are not on a schoolbus route so we do not get plowed right away.

At least we dodged the freezing rain bullet so far.

OT----windy, but very warm here today....chinook is what it feels like...most of the snow we have received here in town is melting quickly...not a bad thing seeing how some of the homes here are almost completely drifted in from the winds we have had!!! At least you can drive around and not get stuck getting out of your own drive way while trying to get your mail!!!

I'm about 90 miles south southeast of you. Got about .04" of rain last night. Just enough to put coating of ice on things. Wind and snow hasn't got here yet. 21F and 4 mph wind out of the southeast at 7 pm.

OT the wind and snow didn't get here until about 4AM this morning. Wind is blowing in the 30 to 35 range. Drifts don't look too big yet from what I can see in the yard light. Gonna be a fun day to feed.

Ran into Great Falls yesterday. Roads weren't too bad til you crossed the county line, then they got icy. Hubby slowed down, could feel our tires slipping. Had a few ding dong's pass us, luckily they didn't end up in the ditch.
After we left the Falls found out that there were several wrecks there due to the roads turning icy starting at 3pm, right about when we were leaving.
Got to snowing pretty heavy when we hit our home town, but after we left there the wind was blowing like crazy.
Now this is really crazy, we got home and found our front door standing open. Had 2 extra cats inside that left quickly. Nothing was missing, so the only thing we can figure out is one of the relatives came by looking for us and didn't slam the door shut. Going to lock it from now on when we leave.

Sounds like you have the same road crews we do.

We have never locked the house, where we are if someone wants in they have all the time in the world and noone to see them if we are gone. Figure if we locked up I would have more to fix if someone wanted in.

The local low-lifes know me and don't bother.

Wind and snow quit some time during the early morning hours...Beautiful sunny calm day so far- with temp around 10 right now at noon...

But we got snow blowed everywhere...Can still get into the stacks with no problem- and out to feed OK.....Have one 3-4 foot drift by one stack- but can still manuever around it.... Went to town to get mineral and most the roads are blowed clear, except for a few drifts in sheltered areas- but in town its almost 4 wheel drive only... Really a mess...Had to help push a couple ladies out of the parking spots at the restaurant..

Highways are snowpacked but not bad-- but east over by Wolf Point area and west by Malta they are still saying emergency travel only (severe conditions)....
Well the old cows better enjoy today- as the next storm is supposed to be tomorrow- and then another one Friday....

BLESSED MONTANA
On the sixth day God turned to the Archangel Gabriel and said: 'Today, I am going to create a land called Montana. It will be a land of outstanding Natural beauty; a land of beautiful lakes, each one full of fish. It Shall have tall majestic pines, peacefully flowing rivers, landscapes full of Buffalo, tall grass, and eagles, beautiful blue skies, forests full of bear, elk And moose, rich farmland and fair skinned people.' God continued, 'I Shall make the land rich in resources so as to make the inhabitants prosper and They shall be known as a most friendly people, people who practice being Nice every day.'

But Lord,' asked Gabriel, 'don't you think you are being too Generous to these Montana people?'

'Not really,' replied God 'just wait and see the winters I am going to give them.'

AND NOW YOU KNOW

Well at least we should have some moisture to get the grass going in the spring-but I hope we don't continue on track to beat the record snowfall we had in 2003-2004
I think we ended up with 80-90 inches that year all blowed into 10-30 foot high/deep drifts and we had to get the neighbor to come in with his D-9 Cat and move it just so we could find the hay stacks....

Windy as heck here today,45 mile per hour winds and raining, till it turns to snow tonight. Then back to icy roads.I agree, people drive way to quick in these conditions, thinking studded snow tires make them invincible.Always hear about them on my pager and scanner.
