Wife's Thoughts

It just seems so unfair
at how suddenly the new season gets here,
You work you rush and it just seems
that nothing is done
especially the one thing that makes you scream.

Through the spring you rush
around getting tags and vaccines,
cows to check, calves to pull and vets
to call to midnight scenes.

Then it is hurry hurry they are due to be here,
the branding crew that is coming this year.
Even though you rush, you really want to hide
because you a need days to be ready and it still
comes as a surprise.

Once the branding is done, the fence is fixed
time to get onto the next aspect.
There's seed to plant and equipment to
prime and hope that the rain comes on time.

Now it is summer and the haying has started,
there are meals to cook and kids to catch,
here's to hoping with that green horse
there is no wreck.

Fall has snuck upon you and the weaning starts
you rush around each day to get the feeding finished
and getting equipment put away.
The kids leave for school each day and still you rush
to get things done before the snow comes flying your way.

It is time to step back and wonder
what are you missing with the work and
rushing of each day.
Just the maid service that cleans your house
every other day.

Hi Nicky,
It went pretty quickly. Had alot of people here helping out. Still got tattoo ink on my fingers. My gloves failed.
Only one foul up. Husband forgot to vaccinate the yearlings. I got them on the following Monday.
I got so busy I forgot to grab my camera, so I didn't get any pictures taken. Luckily a friend of mine was walking around getting a bunch of pictures.
Was giving the calves a nasal vaccine and found out that if the branding iron was applied after the nasal spray was given, they snort it out. I got vaccinated right in the face by a calf while doing a tattoo. :p Threatened to tattoo my husband if he did it again. Our friend stepped in to run the branding iron and tried to catch me. Threatened to nasal him.
All in all it was a fun day.
Going to get our friend back at his branding.
