Give me a bouquet of wild flowers over roses ANY day.Greg brought me a bunch of those purple ones you call Wild Bergamot the other day...they are sooo pretty. We have lots of them, the Hare bells, and what looks like little sunflowers,on our river pasture this year.

DJL,have you noticed, some years are better for a certain wildflower then others....we may not see one for a few years, then they're all over on a different year, just something we've observed. Maybe its different in southern Alta. compared to central Alta. :???:

Anyway thanks for posting them... :)

Those are WILD FLOWERS?

Holy smokes, they are beautiful. Your country is lush I guess.
Something that doesn't happen here.

I had seen the "Sticky Geranimums" before, thought they were
called Wild Geranimums.

Thanks.

What you called a Wood Lily, we call a Tiger Lily here in Sask. They're our provincial flower. The last couple of years, they've been pretty abundant, must be all the moisture we've had. Most years, we'll only see the odd one growing in pastures that have never been touched ever by machinery. It's a beautiful sight driving by one of these pastures, and it's just a sea of bright orange flowers. It's actually illegal to pick them.

Shelly, its illegal to pick wood lilies too. Some books call them Western Red Lily, we usually just call them tiger lily too. They were pretty abundant this year.

FH, the sticky geraniums are sticky, hence the name. You can tell when the dogs have been running through them, as the hair on their heads, while not real tacky, isn't smooth like normal. Your hands get sticky if you pick them. There are also white ones that I assume are not sticky.

Mrs. Greg This year was a terrific wildflower year, but we usually do have abundant flowers. This year was very big for Brown Eyed Susans, those sunflower looking ones. Death Camas is another one we have lots of this year, unfortunately. I don't know if its heavier than usual, or if I just happened to notice it for a change...... I keep missing the Lady's Slipper, or Venus Slippers, which are the coolest flower going, but I never have my camera handy when I happen to run across some. Bergamot is one of the flavoring agents in Earl Grey tea, so when you have a cup now, you'll think of the flower.
