Will Obama veto this bill, as he promised.

Looks pretty bi-partisan.

House passes $636B defense bill despite veto threat

The House on Thursday bucked President Barack Obama’s veto threats and overwhelmingly approved a $636 billion Pentagon spending bill for fiscal 2010.

The bill, passed on a 400-30 vote, does meet Obama’s demand to cap the F-22 fighter jet program, something he personally lobbied for. But the measure still contains funding for two programs that have drawn veto threats from the administration.

In particular, the White House this week threatened to veto the bill over $560 million for an alternate engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter as well as $485 million for new helicopters to fly the president on short trips from the White House. The Obama administration did not request funding for either program.

He's broken other promises. Who knows? He is starting to sound all lip service to me with no action.

He does a decent job reading it seems. Maybe I can find something else he is good at.

Well, Hypocrite, Obama will be damned if he does and damned if he doesn't, as far as your concerned.

If he vetoes the bill, you will say he broke his promise to be bipartisan.

If he signs the bill, you will say he broke his promise to veto it. Either way, you'll call foul.

and I'll be damned if I do and damned if I don't

didn't you ask for some other news than the birther issue?

Thought you and others might be interested in this, my bad.

No, I will say that he set himself up for failure, making promises, he can't always keep.

I said that a long time ago also.

See alice cannot even address the issiues, sure birthers were mentioned but in passing, alice had asked for something other than birthers and lo and behold she has to cry like a baby when that is not part of the post so she works to get it part of the discussion!

So what do you think he will do Alice? Veto or not?

I'm kind on the fence on this one.

With the military saying they need the equipment, it should be passed.

But he's got to find $$ for programs like health Care reform, while keeping his pledge to the Chinese to bring the fiscal situation into line.

who's going to call the shots. Will he side with the creditor, or the military?

After thinking about it for a bit, I could be wrong, but I think he'll flex his muscles and veto it.

I dunno...he might...and then he might not. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

no one said the job was easy.. but had Obama stood up and upheld his promises. this one would be easy.. Obama could veto it on principle and in keeping his word.. and send it back for the needed cuts.. which Obama might do anyways, as the only budget Obama has held to his high campaign promise standard of budget cuts so far has been the military..  :!:
