Will you South Dakotans pick up my hay, mineral tubs, and any cows that come flying by today :???:

During the night we had freezing rains- many roads are emergency travel only...

But this morning was a beautiful day-sunny- blue clear sky...So still you could hear the coyotes singing all down the creek- must be mating time  ( my old male dog got so busy singing back to them he almost forgot his job of watching the haypen gate while I hauled out bales)....

Then about 15 minutes ago- with a bang like a hurricane it hit- winds 50-60 mph (I see some areas reporting gusts to 65  ) - and evrything is blowing away- or sliding across the ice....
30 degrees a little while ago- now down to 22- supposed to get down to 5-10 Below tonight with snow- and white out conditions....

I'd offer to help you out, but it just doesn't slow down here! We haven't got it yet, but it's supposed to hit tonight. Lucky me, one of the March 15 calving cows that I bought this winter had a baby today. I guess it's better that she did it today rather than tonight or tomorrow. She must have forgot to tell her owner when she got bred before he sold her :)

That sounds like a typical Southern Alberta day before the winds start up for the afternoon

We went to Miles City on Feb. 13 for a Vigortone meeting. It had rained
and froze on the highway. The school buses couldn't run because of the ice. Mr. FH is an excellent driver and he thought we'd be ok. We had to go south of Plevna and pick up a bunk sample for a customer, so we did that first. The road was so bad, Mr. FH said it was the worst he had EVER driven on. We were going very slow and couldn't get stopped to turn in the approach. He finally got the outfit stopped and then had to back up
to turn into the drive. We picked up the bunk sample and then went back
to Plevna and drove to Miles City on Highway 12. It had started to warm
up some and the roads got better as the morning wore on and the temp's raised. Coming out of the Powder River there was a semi with a cattle trailer that had rolled over. We couldn't see that there had been many cattle on the trailer, but there was a dead one and we saw a live one more up the hill, but that was all.

Then when we got to Miles City the Interstate was closed and they had over 100 trucks and some cars stopped from the Baker Exit clear back to the Broadus Exit. It was quite a deal.

The roads going back to Baker in the afternoon were fine.
