Windfall Profits on Tomatoes?

Maybe we need such a tax on tomato growers. I'm hearing that since the salmonella scare, some tomatoes are selling for over $4 per pound.

I just bought a bottle of Knob Creek bourbon, I think they've got to be gouging - we need a windfall profits tax on bourbon, too!

I wish Obama and his socialists would get in power so they could set profit ceilings on all products so all our lives would be better and we would all have so much more money....

Don't forget corn and wheat. It wasn't too long ago that I remember OT gloating about the price of wheat:

Seems like wheat has even gone up more than gas. A lot of that increase is probably due to speculation, but farmers are still doing alright. Poor people have to have bread, but the wheat barons are just raping them.

Oldtimer, where do you stand on the issue of a windfall profits tax for wheat producers?

Just like the cattle futures- their should be oversight and regulation to keep any group from getting undue influence or from profiteering from market manipulation...
Apparently you approve of Hillary "getting lucky" and making $100,000 in her first venture into the cattle futures too--EH :???:

Did I say that? Were you really a cop? Could you tell us what type of investigative skills you used to come up with that one?

But...you DID manage to change the subject again.

You're really having trouble picking up on the sarcasm, aren't you? You really can't tell this was just an attempt to pick on you? I used the little wink smilie trying to help you figure it out:

I guess I give up, though. I hope things get better around your outfit, Oldtimer. Have a good evening.

If I'm grumpy- I just spent the afternoon saying goodbye to a lifetime neighbor :( ....And ol Lynn came thru for us- it rained all afternoon during the services :) Outside funeral at the ranch- and the dress of the day was long johns, slicker and wet hats...Biggest funeral I've ever been too- probably 600-700 people....
