Thank you :) Great pictures ,all of them. This is such a fantastic category to view.

This is an original homestead located in the Fallen, Alberta area and I believe the property is now owned by the Hardens. It was built in the early 1900's and my dad and grandma lived in it together until my dad was 9 and they moved to town. There they raised a few beef ,had milk cows and chickens. Dad remembers those days fondly, even though grandma and him had to work very hard to live off the land. The other quarter has the original homestead still standing , where great grandpa relocated his family after coming here from Russia (now the Ukraine), they originally were successful, business owners in Saskatchewan but lost everything during the depression.

Here are a few more pics of it.

I have often though of trying to have it moved here and restored but I don't think that even just the frame would survive the trip, but wouldn't that be nice to have , a little piece of history in your own back yard.

What a neat picture with an even more wonderful history to go with it! You could try taking it apart and numbering the logs. It is a lot of work but has been done many times in this country to move historic old cabins built from red pine or juniper trees. Thanks for sharing it with us! :D

Lilly that is the first thing I said to my Dad , "I want that stove" . He said that most likely it is too rusted to restore by now.

Thanks everyone for the information on moving it. I will have to look into that. But cost might be an issue, as well as it being on someone else's property too.

Never know till ya ask. Probably wouldn't take a whole lot to take down the outside walls. That's all that's usable. Then a new roof....floor....

Did it just have the cookstove for heat?...Cuz I don't see a chiminy or fireplace anywhere.

I'd love to move somethin like that and rebuild it....for a guest house.
