Thanks to all who liked my photograph!
These are an old set of Crockett spurs that belonged to my Grandfather. I do not know their age. He was born in 1892 and died at 93 in 1985. As a kid I would wear them at times and they would always make me feel about ten feet tall. I loved the old-timey style and the heart shaped strap button.
They are now permanently displayed on my office wall, as shown in the picture. As I've matured in my horsemanship, I prefer a short, one inch shanked spur that is always there when I need it but is otherwise out of my way. I tend to over use longer shanked spurs.
The rawhide reata was braided by an old friend of mine. I used it at brandings the year he made it for me. It actually has a pretty good "feel" but it's been on the wall now for many years.
He made his own rawhide and did nice work. I have quite a few pieces of his work on my wall, including a bosal, bull whip, quirt, hat band and several hondas. I've always wished that I had one of his braided headstalls to complete my collection. At 90 years young now, he quit braiding when his hands couldn't hold up to it any more.
