winter chores in Alberta (pics)

There was a brangus breeder down by seven persons-I've has a few CT people from warmer climes tell me brahmax calves can't survive in Canada. Guess I better tell my rodeo calves they're supposed to be dead. Like Bward says he's selected for 22 years for eared cattle that can handle cold-they probably have as much hybrid vigour as any cross. Not sure if I want a entire herd of partrodeo brood cows but the catchcolts we've kept as cows work just fine-easier to handle then daughters off a certain Angus bull I won't bother mentioning lol. Bward if your make some Horned Hereford gert baldies don't be afraid to call.

Sorry if ya I picked on you about the Santa Cs. In my lurking today
found someone braging about their AI calves out of a new not very popular scotch bull. They felt a 4 foot wide. 4th foot long, 4th tall bull was the best they ever had. Guessing he was a frame 4..

We all have our likes and dislikes. This past two months I have got in a new herd bull calf of extreally hot popular respected lines and he is good halter broke gentle etc. Two of his 3/4 sisters and brothers were division champions at Louisville this fall Accelerated came to the place last week and I told them he was not here. As he had two generations of very popluar Angus bulls on top of his ped. Genex bulls and proved. I found out long time ago do not brag about your own bull just keep his heifers.

If your Santa C breed and calves are great. Why can you not be the one of the first Santa C breeders in Canada.

That was Dawson's at Seven Persons. They switched to Brangus back in the 50's because Angus were getting to small. I used Brangus because Angus were getting to big. I had calving issues with them hip looking. Only used them one year. Sold them to the Canopus Casanova for bucking bulls. :D

We had a bunch of Brangus bulls on a ranch I worked on out of high school, quite a bunch of them candled out because they tended to freeze their riggin'. There were a couple ended up in a bucking string.... seems to me they bucked all right but mostly they were hard on bull fighters. The replacement heifers were easy to spot in a crowd..... their heads were 2 feet higher than the straight Angus. As far as a beef animal should look, to my mind they looked alright. I think in the right operation they would be good cattle.

I'd of like to sat in on the negotiations_-i miss old casanova-he used to brag he'd slept with half the women in canoppus -he never said there were only two. It's a sad day when we lose a character.

The fellow I sold them to walked out behind the house with me and followed them in and we loaded them. The one he figured to buck didn't and the other one was pretty good except they couldn't get him out of the arena as he chased everything. I asked him if he told them we just walked them in to load them. He laughed.
