With this stormy weather we have been having I thought i would suggest that anyone interested should check out Wallace Stegners book Wolf Willow out of the library. I bought it but the little suck was pricey.
Any way if you don't want to read the whole book read the chapters called Genisis and Carrion Spring. About the winter of 1906-07 in southern Sask. I read the whole book but those two chapters really make you appreciate the modern convenences(sp).

It sounds more interesting than the one I have to read for the January book group I'm in about the Enron conspiracy. Not looking forward to the subject AT ALL :x

You would probably enjoy the whole book. It is a classic. I would like to find more of his works. Most of it is written about growing up on the prairies around Whitemud(Eastend) Sask. But has the two chapters about that killer winter.

Sounds like the kind of book you want to read while wrapped in a wool blanket!

You should see if you could get wolf Willow out of the library for him. Those two chapters are quite a read. He might even enjoy the whole book.

Roger got the feed tested and it should have been OK. I cut out the pellets and they seem to be doing fine. I am still nervous when I see a real full one. I don't suppose they will gain quite as much with no grain but I am hoping to keep them over the summer so they should make it up on the grass if i can keep them growing frame.

I bet they will be just fine. Glad you were able to eliminate the problem.
We breed cattle these days to perform, the way they perform is to have a good appetite. So you are bound to have some hogs in the bunch...
