December 21 - The Winter Solstice occurs in the northern hemisphere at 12:04 UT. The Sun is at its lowest point in the sky and it will be the shortest day of the year. This is also the first day of winter.

Temp is 10 Below (warmest all day) on its way to 25 Below predicted tonight- wind has been blowing 20-30 mph all day with wind chills down around 40 Below--and I was just reminded that winter doesn't start til tomorrow....

Seems like we've had an eternity of winter already...

We're headed from mid 60's to 20's by the AM on Monday. :( :( :( :(

But, we've already got dandelions blooming and Mom's daffodils are up about 5" above the mulch.

Happy Birthday Blkbuckaroo-- I think I'd rather have the cold than rain and ice....
We are up to -16, sun shining bright, and the wind has completely quit so it seems kind of balmy out.... 8)

Have to say 30 degrees never felt so good as today, felt like a great day to be out doing chores, animals have water again, got really icy in the troughs for a few days, and the hydrant froze up for about a 6 hour period near the animals.Could'nt have a better B-day then doing what i love. :D

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone.Went out for supper with the wife and 3 youngest kids the others are busy in their own things, was fun but cold.Spent the afternoon at a good friends and another Mn/Nebraska transplant here for christmas we indulged in a few beers sat around his leather shop telling lies was a fun day for an old fart as my kids say.
