Why not just send what you can afford to the "Marine Corps -- Law Enforcement Foundation"..
I am sure they will except smaller donation's.

Rush makes numerous such donations, that he mentions infrequently, but of course they never seem to matter.

So???...Go ahead and pitch in with rush then...this is not his money, its just a letter about him...If it raises money for a good cause then,I say good job to the buyer and the seller(rush)...I am sure they will take whatever sizable donation you can give too ..

I do think in this case Rush is doing a very good thing......No matter what I think of his political views,It would be unfair of me to only point out his faults and not aknowlege his helping of others.

I see Baucus and Testor both signed the letter. I will write each of them a letter telling them I am ashamed they represent Montana (although I never voted for either of them).

Did you send them an atta-boy for supporting the condemnation of the General Betrayus Ad and MoveOn.org ? Or are you ashamed they did that too :???:

By a vote of 72-25 (3 not-voting), the Senate passed the Cornyn Amendment that strongly condemns any effort to attack the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the U.S. Armed Forces. This Amendment also sends a clear message to the U.S. Armed Forces, letting them know that MoveOn.org and their liberal cohorts in the Senate do not speak for the majority of Americans.

SENATORS WHO VOTED AGAINST THE AMENDMENT:
Akaka (D-HI), Bingaman (D-NM), Boxer (D-CA), Brown (D-OH), Byrd (D-WV),
Clinton (D-NY), Dodd (D-CT), Durbin (D-IL), Feingold (D-WI), Harkin (D-IA),
Inouye (D-HI), Kennedy (D-MA), Kerry (D-MA), Lautenberg (D-NJ), Levin (D-MI),
Menendez (D-NJ), Murray (D-WA), Reed (D-RI), Reid (D-NV), Rockefeller (D-WV),
Sanders (I-VT), Schumer (D-NY), Stabenow (D-MI), Whitehouse (D-RI), and
Wyden (D-OR)

NOT VOTING:
Biden (D-DE), Cantwell (D-WA), and Obama (D-IL)

Well I do not see where it says Rush is going to match the offer but if he does it will be a 4.2 million dollar total contribution then....If Rush is kicking in 2.1 million,I say good on him for helping not by selling but also by doubling up his offer..It is nice to see some good come from it all......

Do you write letters to congressmen for doing what you pay them to do oldwhiner? I would think that doing something stupid deserves a letter but standing up for the integrity of a general would be part of their expected job. Of course you and I see things different.

Listened to Rush this morning, still says he's going to match it....of course Harry Reid made some pathetic pitch like he should get some credit for Rush's good deed, although no mention was made that he and the dirty 40...or however many signers there were... had any plans to contribute themselves.

Actually reverend right-- in the last letters I sent to all of them- I informed them of my belief that the whole bunch (Congress) were idiots for getting involved in a "he said- she said" political peeing match- and that I thought they had much more serious issues they should be worrying about rather than playing on the edges of government censorship- while just doing more to create division in the country...

Both Petraus and Rush are big boys--and don't need Congress to wipe their noses or hold their hands when they potty anymore...

And the last I knew-- this was still one of the reasons we are fighting a War on Terror:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

OT, I give them cudos when they vote right. I don't like hearing Baucus' radio advertisment about Bush's veto on the S CHIP...sounds to me the cost will probably include taking care of the illegal immigrants' kids, too

I also disagree with Bush's attempt at making us Canamexamerica. I would like to keep us a sovereign nation.

Looking at the above, Obama must have opted out so no one could holler at his yes or no....or he might just have decided not to show up :?

sw and I write to our congressmen often. It's easy to send them an email. Baucus is pretty good about replying, TESTOR isn't.

Yep, listened to Rush, too this morning. Had it LOUD as we were unloading mineral and cake w/mga. Sounded to me like dingy Harry actually was taking credit for the monies raised....we listened to his speech about it....so now the "letter" which really was towing the line on our freedom of speech by getting Rush shut down has flip-flopped and now dingy Harry can divert their intent with the letter into a good thing. I sure hope Americans can hear right through ol Dingy Harry...he smells just like Daschle in S. Dakota....who lost his reelection by behaving the same way. Nevada, I sure hope you are paying attention to who you vote for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :!:

Hanta-- One of the reasons I supported GW was because one of his main campaign promises was to lower Health Care/Insurance costs-- mainly thru tort reform...Because I think it will take a combined action to combat the health care problem --using all of the following: tort reform, a type of government guaranteed insurance for those that can't pay or qualify, tax incentives for companies to provide insurance, reduction of pharmaceutical costs, etc...

But GW didn't even do the tort reform he promised-- the only tort reform he passed was so that companies like Enron could weasel more money out of bankruptcy's and so large banks had first shot at Bankruptcy assets over all other creditors (little guy be damned, again)...Then he crawled in bed with the Pharmaceutical industry and even had it outlawed for us to buy cheaper drugs in Canada (which Canada was happy selling us)--claiming the phoney excuse that these drugs were untested and unsafe (when we know most are made in the same place ours are) :( ....

But anyway-- Bush did nothing proactive-- and insurance and health care costs have continued to rise....

Remember what I always say-- the US government and US voters usually don't proact- they react - and usually when we react, we overreact...

And I think your going to see a major overreaction on the healthcare and insurance issue that will end up giving us a mess--probably out and out universal coverage for everyone (A Hillarycare +)....But its GW's and a 12 year Republican controlled Congress's own fault for doing nothing-- and now folks like Baucus are definitely beating the drum and making hay out of it while the sun shines...And with all polls saying that 70+% of voters believe insurance/health care costs are one of the top priority issues-- he's stacking truckloads with his ads, like all the Dems will......

Hanta, I wrote that Reid sounded an awful lot like the little pathetic crybaby that was Tom Daschle!! Then thought I'd be a little nice, and deleted it before I hit "submit". :D :D You know I almost always agree with you guys.

I heard that it was Betty Casey. That's what Reuters is saying, too:

"Casey is with the Eugene B. Casey Foundation, which said in a statement it bought the "smear letter" to demonstrate its belief in free speech and support of Limbaugh."
