Isn't that great? Harry Reid writes a letter to Rush and a charity gets $4million. Good for Reid.

Absolutely! Reids failed attempt to distort, discredit, and silence his opposition will be permanently documented.

What is sad is that all of the press on this is not about the good that has come from it but every article has rush going on about the letter like he won something.....Why he has to make an issue out of this good deed is beyond me....He did a good thing, why not take the time to talk about the charity and less about this letter? I find that rush is using this as a way of twisting a knife rather than helping a charity. It comes across as he is just using this charity to stick it to someone who wronged him, rather than making simple donation IMHO......

What is this charity about, what will the money go to?and why not try to get more money by rallying the charities purpose and less about those who wrote the letter. Maybe if it was done with out the fanfare afterwards,it would seem more about helping others...Its a shame something good has to come with such disingenuous behavior..Again IMHO

The reason is that the money for Charity is a small thing compared to the Freedom of speech issue that the letter was trying to hinder. One of the primary things our founding father gave their lives for was the freedom of speech. The democrats want to take that away with the fairness doctrine.

The Liberals control 90% of the media in the U.S. They own most all major newspapers, they control all but one news network. The only real voice the conservatives have is A.M. Talk radio and the Democrats want to silence that one venue.

A few million for charity is a drop in the bucket of good, Freedom of speech is the foundation of America!

I was under the impression this thread was about a letter to be sold to aid a charity....It was not about free speech.I am sure Rush has crossed lines a few times too....If his beef was about free speech then say that ..do not hide behind something by incorporating a charity to make your point...This should not of been this way.....I think it is in bad taste to use something like a charity to make a political stance on.....IMHO..Now this whole good deed, which was broached under the guise of giving, has now been sadly tainted.IMHO.....I do not like or dislike Rush, all he is,is a voice on the radio for people who can't make up their own minds listen too...He is not entertainment, just political dribble..I actually thought he was doing a good thing just because it was a good thing to do.....turns out he still talks about it on his show today.

Welcome to the world of Republican slime, NN. They can't win with ideas, so they slime and try to change the subject.

A debate about whether to invade Iraq becomes a debate about whether Joe Wilson's undercover CIA wife hooked him up with an overseas junket. A debate on stem cell research becomes a debate about whether Michael J. Fox exaggerates his symptoms. A debate about the right to privacy becomes a debate about whether Terri Schivo's blinks were voluntary. A debate on Iraq policy becomes a debate about how mean people are to General Petraeus. A debate about health care becomes an investigation into the lifestyle of 12 year old Graeme Frost. A debate about climate change becomes a debate about how many compact fluorescent light bulbs Al Gore has in his house. A debate about the level of poverty in this country becomes a debate about how much money John Edwards spent on a haircut. A debate about who's qualified to be president becomes a debate about who does or does not wear a lapel pin.

That's how they work and why it's important to call them on it. Rush is using this letter and a charity to change the subject from him insulting soldiers in Iraq who disagree with the war.

And a debate about Rush's 2 million dollar donation to a great charity turns into:

Wake up and see that it was about "phony soldiers" that is unless your hatred for Bush blinds you from seeing the truth.

Spin it all you want it was about phony soldiers, you know the ones that nail the left and had them left following like a puppy dog. (deja vu Rathergate)
The left was so enthralled with this phony soldiers message that they forgot to check if he was telling the truth.

I have to speak up a little here on the Rather incident. The points Rather brought out were not necessarily untrue. The particular paper that he based some of his statements on was made up. I don't think we can refute that. That did not necessarily mean the main points were incorrect. It was bad journalism to stick to the Bush military paper but the witness he had on that particular interview was real as was the other "evidence". I would have really liked to see the REAL record for Bush's service instead of arguing about a fake one. You would think his dad, former CIA chief, would have been able to find the real papers instead of arguing the strawman of a perhaps planted piece of evidence. The best we can say about that whole incident is that the Bush camp out manuevered Rather. The news network should not have let it happen. They had the resources to check the document better.

I don't like Limbaugh because he is just full of hot air and a hypocrite on top of that. I don't want to defend or argue the quote you people have here with Rush's ranting. Rush has his viewpoint and that is fine. I don't happen to like ranting idiots like Rush but he has every right to do what he does. It is not fine for Rush to bash others and then whine when it comes back on him. I bet Rush isn't putting up the money himself--it will probably be given to him.

We can say that Bush as a "decider" for military matters has been disastrous. He got rid of generals who knew what needed to be done, did what he wanted, and then tries to push the biggest part of the mess on Patraeus (sp?).

Now they are undoing many of the decisions from the earlier part of post war.

I will give you another tidbit on this subject of evidence manipulation.

Larry Craig was set up.

Having Arlen Specter defending him was like having a corrupt Cardinal who was involved in the deed secretly extend his hand and ring for Craig to kiss.

This story will emerge. There are too many who know about it for it to be kept closed. There are actually some good patriotic men and women who work in intelligence.

I will have to say the Machevellian execution was something to marvel at.

The letter has always been about them trying to shut up and silence Rush as well as the rest of the Conservative radio voices. That is why it was wrote and that is why Rush brought the letter to the attention of the public.

The fact that he sold it for charity is the smaller issue at hand. As much good as the money for charity will do. The fact that Rush uses this letter to continue exposing the Democrats for the slime they are is the first and most important thing.

Libs try to make the good of the money the smokescrean to hide the fact that they want to take away the voices of the conservatives. You can not beat them at their own game then make the game illegal.
