I remember hearing about 'whisper-sticks' (among horse-hands) in the early 90's when the 'Horse-Clinician thing' was just becoming popular thx to Robert Redford doing that movie in Big Timber, MT.

Carmel One night my oldest daughter wouldn't eat her carrots, as her plate was leaving the table I snagged a piece of carrot and dropped it in the bottom of her ice cream cone. When she got down to it she aw it and was so happy she got a Carmel treat. Wasn't so happy when she realized it was carrot.
She hasn't forgot that trick and the was over 30 years ago.
Funny thing is now she owns an Ice cream shop/
