I guess some of you haven't read James Herriot's books about being a veterinary in 1930's Britain.
The line was said by a farmer after a cow swished her dirty tail in his face at milking time.
The full quote was "Stand still thou $hittin' old bovril". Mr. Herriot thought it was unique enough to repeat in his book, it is used on our operation occasionnally.
