Plenty hay???? you gotta be kiddin me right???? LOL Nope we don't have enuff hay. But we're plannin on supplementin them with feed (that we normally don't hafta do) We also sold off some cows this time just gettin em off the pasture. We are down now to about half of what we had this time last year. So maybe that'll help some.
When I was haulin them loads to the sale barn, it almost felt like sellin out. Hard to do, but sometimes ya hafta do things ya don't want to, to continue doin things ya do want to do....like ranchin. We kept fewer replacements this time that we normally would. about 1/3 of what we'd normally keep.
Was a hard day for me.....because Mr Lilly leaves it up to me to decide who stays and who goes. Was hard gettin rid of the cows that I did.....like pickin the one's I liked the least, same with the replacement heifers. Penned em all up.....counted em, then made the choice of how many to keep, then walkin thru them pickin the one's I wanted to keep.
But the way I see it, when the drought ends, we should be sittin with some really good cows, cuz the tuffer ya are on cullin em out, the better next years calf crop should be......Least that's how I look at it....maybe it just makes it easier for me to deal with LOL

Hanta,
I really debated on postin pictures that have myself in them......LOL I hate pictures of myself. But this time I didnt man the camera the whole time, our son was keepin track of numbers as we tagged, etc. sittin on top of the fence in front of the chute and he had the camera while I was busy.
See when I'm behind the camera it's a guarantee'd deal that I WON'T be in any pictures LOL
