Worst President in Your Lifetime

I was reading one of the posts where they are talking about bad Presidents....Made me think of which I thought was the worst during my lifetime...

I guess I would have to go with Carter first altho I think LBJ brings up a close second...I really think Carter had good intentions, just absolutely no idea of what he was doing....LBJ was a crook and killed a lot of good American soldiers with his micromanaging of the Vietnam war....

Tough decision- may have to think on it more...Who do you think was the worst President ?.....

easy Question....

lets look at carter.....

Gave away the Panama canal to a drug lord dictatorship.....

The Iranian hostage crisis was seen by critics as a devastating blow to national prestige; Carter struggled for 444 days to release the hostages.

The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan marked the end of détente,

was unable to reduce soaring interest rates and inflation rates,,The economy suffered double-digit inflation, coupled with very high interest rates, oil shortages, high unemployment, and slow economic growth. Nothing Carter did seemed to help,

or to lower unemployment

The inflation caused interest rates to rise to unprecedented levels (above 12% per year).

The prime rate hit 21.5 in December 1980, highest in history

the gas crises.....

Carter asked for the resignations of all of his Cabinet officers,...

The rapid change in rates led to disintermediation of bank deposits, which began the Savings and Loan crisis.

Carter signed legislation increasin the Social Security costs through a staggered increase in the payroll tax

He also prohibited Americans from participating in the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow,

reinstated registration for the draft for young male.

Carter started a $40 billion covert program of training Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan and Afghanistan.which led to the rise of Islamic theocracy in the region, and also created much of the current problems with Islamic fundamentalism...(six months before the soviets invaded thus provoking the invasion)

On August 5, 1980, the Saudi rulers welcomed Saddam Hussein to Riyadh for his first state visit to Saudi Arabia, the first for any Iraqi president. Saudi Prince Fahd claimed that President Carter, apparently hoping to strengthen the U.S. hand in the Middle East and desperate to pressure Iran over the stalled hostage talks, gave clearance to Saddam's invasion of Iran. On September 22, 1980, Saddam Hussein invaded Iran and began a bloody trench war that lasted almost a decade and killed one million people.

n 1994, Carter went to North Korea at the behest of President Clinton.
and gace them "two light water reactors" ,..it soon became apparent that despite their promises to Carter, North Korea had no intention of stopping its nuclear weapons program. In 2005, North Korea announced that it had nuclear weapons.

but who could forget his further distruction on the home front.....

Carter terminated the Russian Wheat Deal, embargo marked the beginning of hardship for American farmers

Created the ""Misery Index"" and most of the Major problem issues of today....

I was going to say LBJ before I read that, Steve. Now I will defintely say Carter.

Bureauacry got so big under LBJ, that is one of the main reasons I thought he was so bad. But my list was very short compared to yours.

Thanks for the information.

Clinton ties them both, though.

Oh!!!! Lordy....you must be new to the board to ask me that!!!!

It will be easier to research my posts on Bush than for me to recount!!!

Jackson...because here in GA he destroyed our early economy and lifestyles of many of our people. Southern folks tend to carry a grudge a bit longer than most!!!

Carter performed about as badly as any president ever, but Klinton Nixon,LBJ were reprobates.

I dont think Nixon was that bad. He could have won Vietnam if he would not have been undermined at home. He couldnt negotiate a peace because the VCs knew he was going to have to withdraw. This is why the Nixon/Vietnam plan failed.
On a personal level I think Nixon was a good guy. It was those damn dirty hippies that drove him half crazy. Who could hold that against him?
I loved the way he would flash the old double peace signs to piss off the hippies

I don't think we would have ever won that war. We gave the vietnamese a chance and they didn't take it. It became a civil war.

That war, as with Korea, was a war by proxy with China.

The one we got NOW.....then maybe Andrew Jackson

This explains a lot about your political views, the lack of understanding the question put forward! :(

Unless you are the oldest person in the US you could nt have been alive when Jackson was prez! and that was the question!!!

Your other response was expected because of your tunnel vision :D

Carter!!

Carter!!

My grandfather had a scar on his chest that he never talked about. Us grandkids would always ask him about it.

One time he told us it was caused by a bullet from the civil war. After thinking about and confronting him on the time span, he simply said, "It was a slow bullet." I think "civil war" had a different meaning for him. I never asked him about it again.

The jury is still out.

Maybe had you not blamed Nixon for Carters dismal failures so many wouldn't question your reasoning.....

BTW why didn't you defend the peanut brained ware house manager?

Hi Steve....where ya been?

Dear Steve..if you can read I didn't say that I blamed Nixon for Carters " failure" as you call it. I said that Carter was left holding the bag-o-shite to clean up the mess and insecurities that Nixon left in his wake!!!
Did you got to school with RR??? Nevermind...

And Steve if you'll continue your research of my posts you'll see that I defend Carter in several posts...none of which I will recount here AGAIN.

and MM&P...who pi$$ed in your cornflakes???? Geeeeezzzz....breath deep, calm down. You can't even take a joke w/o gettin yer shorts in a wad!!!

Roper...thanks for the support but as you can see these folks roll off my back like water on a duck!!! But I do thank you!

I know what I do to support my group of soldiers and you do and a few more know also. I don't make what I do knowledege here anymore because of yaps like MM&P. I put my money and support where my mouth is....not just let if flap and spew venom all them time.
