I read the story,.. and knowing our local police have a lock on their weapons racks in the patrol cars.. I looked a bit deeper into this aspect...

During the scuffle, the man gained access to the trooper’s SUV and attempted to pull the gun from a locked rack holding the officer’s rifle.

The two federal rangers and the state trooper were called to state Route 159 about noon Friday after cyclists near Calico Basin reported an altercation with a pedestrian, described as a black man in his 20s, according to Highway Patrol.

But the Review-Journal learned the officers fought with the man, who had been carrying a rolling suitcase, a backpack and a bedroll but was otherwise unarmed.

During the scuffle, the man gained access to the trooper’s SUV and attempted to pull the gun from a locked rack holding the officer’s rifle.

“Maybe he just wanted some water,” cyclist Joel Meyer told the Review-Journal, noting that Berghardt tried to stop those in his group — as he did with other groups — but they all passed him.

The newspaper reported that Berghardt was from Los Angeles but had previously lived in Las Vegas, which was about 20 miles away from where the incident occurred. A family friend told the Review-Journal he left for Las Vegas Wednesday after a fight with his mother.

Nothing new here

Just another of those numerous examples on how those who "Serve and Protect" - treat the public.

Literally thousands of examples on YouTube alone.

They will not be charged with anything and will be walking your streets tomorrow.

I think it's about time to start giving law enforcement a taste of their own medicine. They have gotten way out of hand and have lost most all respect that we once had.

Militarizing law enforcement has had a huge negative influence on them.

I love to hear cops tell people they know the law so well. Nothing but a bunch of wannabees that can't do anything else................
