Wow, it took him a year to make Bush look preferable.

Polls Show Obama in Dead Heat With Ron Paul...and George W. Bush
By Philip Klein on 4.14.10 @ 11:25AM

A few interesting polls out this morning show Ron Paul and George W. Bush within the margin of error against President Obama in hypothetical matchups. The first matchup is unlikely to happen, and the second one can't, but both polls underscore the declining political fortunes of Obama.

Rasmussen finds Obama leading Paul by an insignificant 42 percent to 41 percent margin. While Obama is more popular among Democrats than Paul is among Republicans, Paul leads among unaaffiliated voters by 19 points.

Meanwhile, Public Policy Polling, a Democratic firm, finds that the public is now pretty evenly divided between Obama and the man whose unpopularity made his rise possible. The president leads his predecessor Bush by a narrow 48 percent to 46 percent. In this case, it's more about voters returning to the typical ideological lines -- with Republicans and conservative independents who became disenchanted with Bush during his second term supporting him over Obama.

PPP concludes:

These numbers suggest some peril for Democrats in making Bush a focus of their messaging this fall. A lot of folks who contributed to the former President's low level of popularity now like Obama even less. Figuring out a way to make voters change their minds about the current President would be a much more effective strategy for Democrats than continuing to try to score points off the former one.

Bush Bashing stopped working for Oldtimer here on Ranchers a while back and his only defence was to disappear from PB for a while. To bad Obama wouldn't take Oldtimer's lead and disappear from the Political scene forever.

Bush bashing was an extremely transparent maneuver to place blame on someone, anyone, which is usually the first unintelligent kneejerk reaction to a looming crisis.

Those who continue to do so, do it out of another human emotion......Which is never wanting to admit they were wrong.

But at some point, the truth always comes out.

Mitt Romney leads Obama 45-44 after tying the president at 44 last month. This is true despite Obama consolidating his Democratic support and narrowing his deficit among independents.

After trailing 44-46 to Obama in March, Mike Huckabee now leads the president 47-45. Huckabee boosted his favorability numbers from 31-36 to 32-31 in a month by decreasing his disapproval among liberals, moderates, conservatives, and Republicans.

Sarah Palin now lags Obama only 45-47 after showing deficits of eight or seven points ineach of the last three months. Both Obama and Palin have increased their base support, but Palin now trails Obama among independents 39-46 versus 35-49 in March.

Despite a 34-47 favorability gulf, Newt Gingrich is dead even with President Obama, 45-45. Obama leads Gingrich among independents 44-40, but 11% of his own party members pledge to vote for Gingrich, versus only 6% of Republicans crossing over.
