Got an 8 year old mare that my daughter got out of South Dakota, last year and it took a while and a good fairer to get her shoed. We tried to shoe her yesterday after a tube of horse come, and a shot of ace. You can lift her feet and trim but as soon as you start tapping a nail in she takes her hoof back quick and hard. We have tried in the past to tie a leg up and blind fold her but not any luck. Well I loaded her into the trailer this morning and hauled her to a fairer that was shoeing some dude horses and mules on a table. Once we had her on the table and lay down it didn’t take much over tem minutes and she had 4 shoes on. One guy shaped and did the front hoofs and another back; a third person shaped shoes and clenched nails. They used a hoof knife and power girders to flattened and finish the hoof. Pulse it was cheaper then the other shoers charge…..
