Today, I signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act into law.

This is a historic step -- the first of many as we work together to climb out of this crisis -- and I want to thank you for your resolve and your support.

The recovery plan will create or save 3.5 million jobs, provide tax cuts for working and middle-class families, and invest in health care and clean energy.

It's a bold plan to address a huge problem, and it will require my vigilance and yours to make sure it's done right.

I've assigned a team of managers to oversee the implementation of the recovery act. We are committed to making sure no dollar is wasted. But accountability begins with you.

That's why my administration has created Recovery.gov, a new website where citizens can track every dollar spent and every job created. We'll invite you and your neighbors to weigh in with comments and questions.

Hasn't the government always wasted a large share of every dollar they take in? Why should we believe this will be different?

Yes.

We pump hundreds of billions of dollars into the military every year.

In Iraq-the State Department can't account for $25 BILLION that was in their budget- along with $1.2 BILLION that was spent to a company (that doesn't exist) to train Iraqi policemen..Needless to say they got NO training out of it....

But I didn't hear any of the rightwingnuts complaining about Bush's IRAQI Recovery and Reinvestment Act :???:  :(

We were talking about this at work. This is the age of twitter and FB and iPhones. Whether you like it or not, this president has tapped into the generation that has already replaced you.

He's tapped into a generation that is easily swayed due to lack of life experiences - gullible people.

Why the snide comment against our military?

it had nothing to do with the thread and even after rereading the entire thread, I can see nothing but an insult, but if you have another meaning other then to insult the military, please explain....

BTW most of the huge costs the military is forced to absorb is due to "earmarks and pork" written into defense spending bills so someone can bring bacon to thier district.. not because a soldier wants an expensive hammer...

it was a waste, and should have not been spent until they could astablish peace and order.. if at all..

now explain why not one liberal leftwingnut has complianed about Obama signing the "largest pork~laden bill" in our history with nothing to show for it..but a huge debt burden on all future generations of Americans.

Just like you see in business and the ranching/farming industry--Whether you like it or not- and many times its hard for the old farts to do- but some time you have to stand aside and turn things over to the younger generation- and let them lead- succeed or fail on their own...

I'm still a believer that Congress and the Supreme Court should have a mandatory age limit- just as the military does..

Yep Obama has tapped into all the new generation innovation- all stuff that wasn't even imagined when I was in school (was Dick Tracy comic book stuff then)...And hopefully with this attitude will lead us into the 21st century...

Americans stood up, even the liberal media spoke up, and showed Obama where the waste, earmarks and pork was stuffed into his bill was.. and he ignored them... so why ask for "vigilance" now?

Obama has tapped into people that will give him what he wants simply because they don't know any better. His followers are easily won with nothing more than a smooth speech and pretty face. They're gullible
