I really hate to see this- He is a strong voice for Agriculture and has been a strong proponent of the M-COOL law and "FAIR" trade....But it already has Hill watchers speculating as the following I found shows:

Sen. Craig Thomas (R-WY), who was easily re-elected Tuesday, has been diagnosed with acute leukemia. He is being treated for the disease in a Bethesda, MD, hospital. Should he resign from the Senate or die, Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal (D), who was also re-elected Tuesday (by a 40% margin), will appoint his successor until an election can be held. As far as I know, nothing prevents the popular Freudenthal from appointing himself.

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Sen. Craig Thomas of Wyoming has been found to have acute myeloid leukemia, cancer of the blood and bone marrow.

According to his spokesman on Thursday, the senator became lightheaded while he was attending First United Methodist Church in Casper on Sunday morning, and was taken to the Wyoming Medical Center. At the hospital, he was found to have pneumonia and a low white blood cell count.

He and his wife, Susan, flew back to Washington on Sunday night to take part in the votes and election during the week. After a thorough workup of tests and a bone marrow biopsy at Bethesda National Naval Medical Center, Thomas was diagnosed with AML on Tuesday, the day he was re-elected.

The senator has already begun treatment as his doctors advised. He is expected to be admitted for at least a month.

The Senator made a statement saying that he will look at his diagnosis as a challenge and take it on with grit and determination.

As quoted by the Star Tribune, Senator Thomas said in his statement: "I am joining all of the thousands and thousands of other cancer survivors in Wyoming...I certainly didn't expect this diagnosis, but I will be back by the January session ready for full service in the new Congress. Susan and I thank you for all of your good wishes."
