Been a pretty busy day with about 5 seconds of pure fear.
Hubby is out getting the crop ground worked and I loaded up the kids and dog and headed for the summer pasture to fix some fence and set up the cattle rub.
After a couple of trips back to the shop for stuff I didn't know I needed we got everything done.
Let the dog out of the back of the truck so he could run and we started heading for the shop. My son looked at me and said, "Mom I think the dog has something cornered in the grass back there." So I turn around and there is the dog looking at something and acting funny. I drive up and there is my dog nose to nose with a rattlesnake. We start yelling at him to get away, the snake is ready to strike. I grabbed my .22 and shot the snake in the head, reloaded and shot again. Dog headed for the house when he saw the gun.
Checked my dog all over and luckily no sign of a snake bite.
This is the year for the rattlesnakes. Husband and I are both 3 and 3 for rattlesnakes this month.
