I have never been known for having a green thumb, so I am very
proud of this rose bush. Thought I'd share it with you:

I guess the neat thing is I haven't done anything to this rosebush
except put it in the ground.

Maybe it's a Conservative Rose Bush. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2: :gag:

I'm kidding of course~I really have no idea what the secret is.
I'm very suprised at the number of roses on it. This is the third
year, so perhaps that has something to do with it. Danged if I know.

Love the flowers, hate the thorns. My mom was the rose grower in our family. I've tried, unsuccessfully to root roses from cuttins, never have bought one tho. I like the old timey roses, the one's you find on old homesteads, or in cemetary's. Mr Lilly's Granny could root them really good, she'd go out and find one's she liked, take a cuttin, bring it home, stick in in the ground on the north side of the house and they nearly all would root and grow.

I don't recall the name, sorry. But you are right, they smell awesome!!

Actually, I bought the bush at the local Runnings store because it was
on sale. (Sound familiar). As I said, I don't have much of a green
thumb so this was a nice suprise to say the least.

One question; there is some old growth and I bet I should cut that
back. Does anyone know?

Also, what are some favorite bushes that folks like to have in their
yards? I think my favorite is Cotoneaster. They seem do do fairly
well in this area. They have beautiful foliage, put on berries and the leaves turn red in the fall.

Spieria is another bush I like, but I don't have any of those. We are doing work around the outside of our house and I want to plant some more shrubs and bushes when we are done. Heck the rosebush even survived all the traffic from the foundation work.

No I sure would'nt be the one to give advice about roses or flowers, heck I have my hands full just tryin ta get a lil hay up.
My place is pretty much native trees,I got on a knoll that had a flat top and started chain sawing a place for the house, when the dust settled I had some oak, cherry and hackberry trees still standin for the yard..............good luck

I don't know the names of flowers much, lol (wonder why with no green thumb) but I refuse to have them shrubs that you hafta trim square...what a pain. When I was growin up we had several "whatchamacallits" in our front yard, that had to be trimmed, oh I hated that job.....one whole side of the house was those to be trimmed square, then we had two bushes of some sort that had to be trimmed round, like half a ball up on top about 6 ft in diameter.
My favorite bush if ya wanna call it that, is a Cape Jasmine. It has the bestest smellin flowers.
I have two sage bushes, that put on pinky/purple flowers, but sage doesn't have the smell like the natural sage does. (Prolly a hybrid  )
I also have a wisteria bush/vine that our son planted in our yard. It puts on purple flowers in clusters like grapes ....... had a friends lil daughter say one time....oh mama look at the grape blooms...lol

WOW! Pretty rambler! Thanks a million for sharing it with us!

Al and I saw one just like it (well, maybe not as many blooms  ) yesterday, over at Alpine. They must be pretty tough plants, cause it gets derned cold over there!

:cboy:

Not a whole lot, really. I do know the difference in growth patterns (tree, bush, rambler, climber) and can tell red from white........other than that, don't have much luck with them. Al has some wild roses he planted here when he was about 6, I noticed they are putting on buds.
