Al was helping Hubby's folks brand some calves on Saturday. They were roping by the hind feet, then throwing them on the ground and holding them while they worked on them...........
Al said the 4th calf they did, kicked out of the rope, till it was only being held by one hind foot. Al got ahold of the tail, pulled the calf over, but before he could get the front leg up so it couldn't get up, the calf (about 400# worth) jumped up, knocking Al's legs out from under him while kicking him in the hand, then it stepped on the hand where it had just kicked it....... Al's aunt said she heard it break, which is why she turned around to see what was going on. This morning, Hubby's mom said she was so proud of Al, even after all that, he helped get the calf back down, before he worried about himself...she said it also made her sad, for the same reason. The aunt brought him home, we got everything ready, and took Al to the ER in Silver. In less than 4 hours (and from what I gathered, that was record time for that ER) we knew it was indeed, broken.
I called the ortho doc this morning, and Al has an appointment for 1:00 tomorrow afternoon. I would imagine he'll get a cast then, if it's not too swollen up to cast. Hope he's not incapicated for too long, he's got 4-H record book stuff to get turned in before 11-6.......not to mention school work. Of course, it was his "right"ing hand that got scuffed.........
Tell ya'll what............at least my boss was great about this, re-arranged the whole week's schedule so I can take care of my Al. She's great!!!!!!
So, anything interesting happen over the weekend for ya'll?
