Yesterday, my hubby and I loaded up a dozen old cows and headed to Yankton. After weighing up our cows we realized that we needed to change our plans and go to Stockmans livestock instead of Cimpls.
It was a beautiful drive down and as we pulled into the stockman's driveway, I noticed a sculpture. So after we got unloaded we went and looked at the sculpture. It was a cowboy with his hat on, chinks, boots, the whole nine yards... He was squatting or sitting (I'm not sure.) And guess what he was doing????

He was working on a notebook computer........ This is the coolest sculpture I have seen for a long time...

And by the way. The people at Stockmans are the kindest people. After we had inquired about selling our cows, they asked if we had eaten and that they would see that the little resturant would get us something if we wanted it...

We talked to the owner and he said that him and his wife bought the place when it was all run down and had hardly any buisness. He said for the first 3 years he didn't know how they ever made it... A very humble man who appreciated you wether you had 10 cows or 1000.
Was a fun day for us.......

I love places like that. It's one of the reasons we sell at the salebarn we do. The owner never fails to be there and speak with us as we unload our cows/calves or whatever's in the trailer. He is there durin the sale making rounds sittin and talkin to the sellers as well as the buyers.
We have a new salebarn that opened last year. With expressed intentions of puttin the old salebarn we use outta business. Well they built this state of the art facility, and it's mighty pretty inside....but they don't have the personal service we get and have gotten for years at the old salebarn. It's already shut down once, and reopened under new management....that should tell them somethin right there. Another thing, the old salebarn is like a tradition. How can you compete with tradition and personal service? I don't think it's possible.
We even get a thank you note in the mail about a week later, after we sell there.

And besides....that new place dont have that good ole sale barn smell.

We have the same great personal and friendly relationship with the Napoleon, ND livestock barn. But come to think about it, everyone we meet on our excursions have been wonderful.
