I always told people I lived in the real world version of Mayberry RFD...well I think Andy and Barney would be soooo much better than what I've got now.

OK..my thief got arrested, heard that thru the rumor mill the nite it happened...it was also in the local arrest report in our little newspaper here. So I got curious for some details. So I called the " detectives" working on the " stealings" here in the valley.

I called him and asked him if " John" was still in jail. His reply was, " I didn't know he was in jail! Are you sure??" I just about dropped the phone. I yelled back YES it's in the paper...don't you read???

He looked it up on the computer and " Ah...yeah..we got him!". Well, helles belles I just told him that!!

Anyway, here it seems that from one shift change to the next there is no information shared. Whomever the road patrol picks up/locks up is not shared with others in related departments.

I asked the ' detective' what if they--the road patrols-- pick up a guy that YOU NEED ...say just by accident they get the very guy you may be looking for...and because ya'll don't talk to each other you've missed an opportunity .

He waited and said, " You got a good point".

Surely, someone pleeeease tell me that this IS NOT the normal way of police procedure!!!!

Sorry, but I think it is.

In the case of our defunct contractor (nice word for thief) if I hadn't hounded the sheriff here and had some good advice on how to go about it, he would have gotten off scott free. I dang sure had to push the sheriff's buttons, and more than once.

These small-town sheriffs and cops don't want to catch anyone.
Then they would have to WORK!

Sure wish I felt different.

The cops are good here. Friend of mine just last week or the week before took a shotgun blast working a highspeed chase. He gets out of the car walking toward them and a man jumps out with a sawed off little 20gage and shoots my buddie in the elbow, chest, etc. My buddie sent two .40 cal into his brisket . Good news my buddie is ok after a few days in the hospita.. The thug stayed a few extra nights but will be ok as well...too bad.

FH..I believe you're right that they don't want to work.. I doubt we've got any that are UNDER 300lbs...and it ain't muscle!!!

I saw one deputy and patrol car @ the PostOffice and the passenger side was FULL of McDonald's wrappers, Burger King, etc.....just crap from eating crap...and to beat it all...he had greasy stains down the front of his shirt!

I just snarled @ him and then went an nagged on the sheriff...whom is now under investigation BIG TIME for several sexual harrassment cases. The High Sheriff wanted to have a " personal meeting" with me about all the stealing in the valley here. I told him NO WAY...so we're gonna have a community meeting. Not falling for that one!

I'm proud to say we've got really great law enforcement here in Harding County. It hasn't always been this good, but the sheriff and the deputy we have now keep us secure and they use a lot of common sense while they're doing it.

The problem is obvious. You folks have entirely too many law officers if they can't keep track of each other.
We have three law officers for our county/communities and don't ever have these problems.

I resemble that remark- except we're the biggest small-town in all of Northeast Montana-- almost 3000 population in the county seat -- have about 7000 in the whole county, which is the second largest county in the state by area-- about 120 miles long by 80 miles wide- so you can see the jack rabbits and the antelope out populate the people many fold over  .......

Isn't the internet cool. Here's the story or at least part of it. Not much of the story unless you're a subsciber but you can see the sorry rats photo. Looks like the law is pinching him in the back. :D I hope.

I think I can beat that. I have a friend who had 5 cows shot by their neighbor last spring and no charges will be filed. The cows were not salvagable. Tripp Co. sherriff Mr. Chip Schroader has no backbone.

We used to have an old sheriff that was real savy about the community. He'd come down hard on bad guys, and counsel good guys in a bad situation. Ofcourse this got him in trouble too many times to count. One time he'd been called to a house for multiple domestic quarrels and he told the young woman that she couldn't have found a worse spouse anywhere in the county. He busted a high school football social but let anyone riding with a sober driver go home unticketed.

I WISH we had officers....we've only got 3/per 12 hrs shift for 30,000 folks in the county and it's a BIG county--mileage wise for this part of the country.

We had 5 but 2 quit and got better jobs. Can't blame them. The pay here is only $28K and I'd not take that and get shot at and not have a shotgun in my sheriff's car to defend myself. Say they can't afford the guns!!!

I'm just gonna give up..and whatever happens...happens. Cause it WILL happen again...history has proven this in this community with this same guy. It's just a matter of time.

yep, here in cherry county,Ne. we have our own kind of Mayberry RFD, the sherriff likes to talk out his backside and (fart) at the same time. But the people in the east end can understand that and we here keep waiting to see what he looks like!!! :p  8)

Don't forget to vote for Cliff Petersen, at least he cares for EVERYONE in the county. :!:
