I have always felt property tax is the most unfair tax we have. It's not based on our ability to pay it, but more a penalty for owning something.

There are many people speaking out for a national sales tax and I'm not so sure that wouldn't be a better system than the one we have. If you don't have any money and don't buy anything you don't have a tax liability.

Yes, and as much as I resist 'taking it to a "Tax Attorney", that may be your option. It depends on how much your actual taxes amount to - but you can't just continue to meekly 'fade away' and cave in. Texas has a propensity for pushing you to see if you push back!  Good luck to you, Hay Maker. Let us know how you make out!

Why is it that taxes keep going up? We keep seeing new taxes for this and that but we never see old taxes being dropped. Why?
When will it be enough? Why does the government need a larger percentage of our earnings? I think it is due to government getting bigger and enforcing more policy over the citizens of the United States. Socialism is what we are becoming. It must stop and return us to a free enterprise system. How will we ever stop it with more and more people lining up with their hand out and expecting the government to take care of them? I, for one am tired of working to take care of myself and paying half of what I earn to take care of someone else that is too sorry to work.

American Taxpayers Union claims that 52% of each dollar earned in this country goes toward taxes. Guvment will be satified when it's 100%, then they can dribble back to you want they want you to have. AND..............
You will be forever grateful to the guvment for allowing you to have that????

Alabama - You ask "Why - Why" Why do taxes keep going up - up - up?? I can answer that question with four words: LIBERAL LEFT-WING DEMOCRATS! The Federal United States Senate particularly. I have watched this Left-Wing crap since I was old enough to understand - that's about 72 years. DON'T GET ME STARTED!
