Lacy (my four year old's bottle calf this year) got lucky and was kept back with the replacement heifers and my contribution on bovine sexual reproduction:
We had a friend out last year helping us test bulls. We only have about thirty of them on this place, so it's not quite the drawn out affair we've had on other ranches, but it was a long day anyway.
Our friend had recently gotten married and his wife came complete with two boys whom he brought along since he knew our two would be there. The oldest of whom was 9 and didn't know beans about ranching. Lucky me, I was the one who wasn't actively participating in the actual process and was the one who got to answer questions.
"What IS that thing?!" (the probe). "What's he gonna do with it?!" :shock:
"Ewwww!!" :lol:
