I started using Red Angus bulls this year and think I am going to like them over Blacks.
Its hard to tell sometimes from pics but here are my observations.
704 - Lots of length
773- Nice rear end and underline. Not cut up in rear flanks.
7158 - Leggy and needs more rear end.
748 - Good...
I am needing to pump water out of ponds or springs into water tanks for my cows. I am trying to improve the water quality they are getting.
I don't have electricity at these sites so solar seems to be way to go.
With a lage holding tank the pump will only need to deliver a couple of gallons a...
Wish we could graze but fields are about 45 miles from here so thats out.
Guess we will have to try different options.
Hope we can v-rake and bale as that will get the least amount of stalk and most of the leaves and shucks.
I plan on bringing it home and mixing with peanut skins in my...
A friend of mine was looking for info on baling corn stubble.
It has been so dry around here that we are putting up very little hay.
If you have done this, did you bale directly behind the combine or did you run a mower and rake? I was thinking that if we run behind the combine it will be...
We had our fair share of mud this winter.
Late December and January was very wet. I have mud pushed up in piles in the pens and it got pretty muddy around the hay rings.
You know what they say, the grass always greener on other side. I would love to ranch in Montana but I don't think I...
Shortgrass, We call them rat tails. We get a few but doesn't seem to bother the buyers as long as you sell them as a group. If they go thru the sale barn one at a time they use it as excuse to steal them.

Although I love looking at all the pics of snow on here I thought Y'all might like to see some pics from down South where we think winter is 3 or 4 nights in a row below freezing.

Delivered a load yesterday that I sold on Superior before Christmas.
There slide only goes one way, to the heavy end. If your catle are heavy the price per pound goes down but if they are light you don't get any extra.
With a 5 cent slide I like my calves to always be a few pounds heavy...
We use a 4 digit numbering system. First digit is year born. Last three numbers is calf number. Spring calves start with 001 and fall born calves start with 501.
So 6001 would be 1st calf born in spring 2006 and 6550 would be 50th calf born in fall 2006.
We put that number in bigest letters...
Recently broke ground on a new ethanol plant here in MS about 90 miles from me. Hope to be in operation by this time next year.
I plan on using it in my backgrounding operation. What are yall having to pay for wet or dry DDG?
