    4th time under a saddle...and a wreck. Now what?

its not uncommon for something to happen the third or fourth ride. If he had a fit the day before, he could have been a little sore from it or he was remembering something about it that caused him to react the way he did. Start over. Throw the blankets on him and pull them off until he...

    Headsets on cows?

First off, I don't know any ranchers who have an air conditioned office to sit around in and secondly, why do we need technology to figure out what cattle are doing all day long? They walk around grazing, go to water about 10:00 in the morning, loaf around chewing their cud until it cools off...

    Feds consider euthanizing wild horses

Typical government deal, though. Pass a law driven by town folk without paying any attention to the knowledge of those in the business then spend millions dealing with the consequences.

    prarie dog

You boys that think all you have to do is own a farm/ranch and you're on easy street due to all these government handouts are just completely wrong. If its so good, just step out and buy a place and come back 10 years down the road and tell us all about how rich you're getting. The way you...

    Calf Prices?

I knew what you meant :) They've got us by the tender bits and nobody in the Gubmint has got enough common sense or integrity to either know what to do about it or get it done. Send some of that rain down this way. I could use an inch or 2.

    Calf Prices?

Captive supply is how packers stay in the black, in my opinion. If they don't get cattle bought at a price that they can make money with they pull from their own supplies and wait until next week and try again. After a few weeks, the price will drop a bit and they'll be back buying up what...

    Calf Prices?

I kinda figured the wreck was on when I read about flooding in the midwest. They can't raise retail beef prices high enough to compensate for their loss so they hammer the calf prices down. Its the same old song and dance we've been through before. Just time to stop all unnecessary spending...

    New Holland 1032 bale wagon

We've got one and the machine itself works great. Its great for accumulating bales and piling it right beside where you end up stacking it by hand.

    Cattle Oiler

I've still got a few of those great "Old Scratch" oilers. I wish someone would start making parts for them again.

Diesel fuel has additives from the refinery added to it as well. BASF makes chemicals to reduce the static, detergent additives, lubricity additives, dyes, so as far as I can see its six of one and half a dozen of the other. It works for me but, as always, your mileage may vary.

    Dang.........I like this saddle

Could be that the dish is a bit too deep.......or your horse just works too good. :) It depends on how the ground seat is made. If you ever have the seat off for some reason you could have the person doing the repair to lay a piece of leather in the dish then skive it out to make it fit you...

    Dang.........I like this saddle

I make a bunch of saddles with a high (5") cantle. Doesn't seem to be a problem with the cantle hitting anyone in the back, or at least no one has complained about it. I think the next one I build for myself will have a 4.5 inch or 5".

    Critique this horse.

FWIW, I don't discount a horse much based on its size. I've rode shorter horses (14.2 - 15.2) and bigger horses on up through Thorobreds. The list of bigger horses that either crippeled up, quit, or didn't have anything left at the end of a day is much, much longer than the list of shorter...
