There is money being made in the beef cattle profession

Direct sales has been a money maker for me. I sell beef directly to customers on the wholesale side. Business keeps growing every year. And I’ve also sold some of my heifer calves as replacements to other producers. Not a lot but enough I no longer sell any heifers at the sale barn. I either...

    Tribute to a fine mare

Ya know I didn’t. It really bothered me for a while. But they were poor folks who had lost all the power to their trailer when their meter base caught fire. Lucky it didn’t burn the whole thing down. I was young back then and didn’t have the compassion life teaches you. I heard the lady died...

What is an annoyance that Ranchers have to deal with everyday?

Heat, dust, flies. But my first choice of annoying daily things would be people. People who cut fences, litter, vandalize, trespass and basically raise hell wherever they go.

    Mystery P-51 Pilot

Jimmy Freaking Stewart!!!! What a man’s man!!! What a patriot. What an actor. And FYI- he once owned and operated the Winecup and Gamble ranches in northeast Nevada and he and his wife were the grand Marshall’s at the Elko Nevada rodeo.

A few days after everything had happened a card came in the mail. If ya ever need to know ya have a great vet, here is the proof. There may be vets closer and who specialize in more things. But there ain’t one better! I don’t cynically think the card was a marketing attempt for a business. It...

The strange thing is every single joint in my body hurts to beat hell. Toes, ankles, knees. Everything. I don’t have a spleen so the doctor is worried that will make it worse. I went out and fed the stock this morning. Now I’m exhausted. I’m such a dang snowflake just like BMR said

We are plumb in the middle of a long January thaw. It’s gotten so bad I only had an hour after the sun came up to haul water to my cows. Then it was axel deep. So we brought them home today. Pretty day for a ride. Had good help and it went smooth. They still had a little picking down in the Salt...
