    new way to feed

We've taken on a new enterprise with good results so far, thought i'd share. We purchased a flail chopper and forage wagon and have begun green chopping our beef cattle. I know this is normal gear in a dairy, but with seed and fertilizer what it is and will be for the forseeable future, this was...

    Sale barn shrink

Ive noticed a 5% shrink in a 5 hour from pen to barn sale day. They're on rye/ryegrass, high water content and it will just pour out of them.

    seed strippers

Never seen a seed stripper in the south, so i'll lean on you midwestern folks. How do you think a seed stripper would fair with bahaia seed and more importantly rye/ryegrass seed? The attraction vs combining would be that i could still cut hay behind a stripper unless i'm mistaken. Any feedback...

FCC ruling against Superior on RFD TV

Here's the difference between right and correct. The ruling was correct; was it right? My only argument is that RFD doesn't facilitate sales. If RFD's interest is educational, seems they could delay-air the shows. I'm sure Superior wouldn't like that, but it's better than pulling the auctions...

    Pic's from Fl

We calve half in october and half in may. That puts pairs on Rye/ryegrass in december, millet/sorghum in may. Both are high protien, TDN feeds. Costs more than running on summer bahaia, gains pay for it though.

    Pic's from Fl

Rye and Ryegrass usually come in around 18pct CP and 60's for TDN. Layman, cows adding 2-3 lbs a day carrying calves. Tagged and weighed most of the calves in the pictures yesterday, with most 120-160 lb calves adding from 1.8 to 3 lbs a day, most gaining just over 2 lbs a day,14 day period...

    Pic's from Fl

I've seen a few of you guys post pics feeding in the snow and ice, looks daunting. In the interest of fair representation, thought i'd post a few from florida. We're up in the panhandle, had down to 24 for 2 days, warmed back up, back into the 70's now. Rye/ryegrass looks good this year, dry though.

    I'm stumped..

cow died, vet's opinion not IBR, elected not to do a necropsy without other cows showing symptoms. Taking a watchful sigh of relief. thanks for the help.

    I'm stumped..

Cow's status quo, her symptoms appear to be consistent with IBR. We haven't bought a cow in about 9 years, only new stock are bulls bought through Univ of Florida's bull test sale. I'd find it hard to believe it came from there, that program is ran to the 9's. So here i am scratching my head...

    I'm stumped..

Been looking on here for a while, thought I'd ask a question I don't have an answer to. Found a cow this afternoon dehydrated, running a bad fever, and carrying a massive infection causing bleeding from everywhere. This is a dadgum mystery to me. No respritory cough, nose was caked with mucus...
