    McCormick Tractor

I own 2 of them, an MTX 120 and an XTX 165. They seem to be a good tractor. One has 1700 hrs and the other 180 hrs, so time will tell. :)

    Mineral feeders?

This type of feeder is the only one I would ever own. Cows can't tip them, mineral stays dry, and they are built to last. The rubber flap lasts about 2 - 3 years and can be purchased separately for about $60. The feeder itself costs about $200, that comes with the flap...

    Badger Problem

Take a tank full of water (empty round up shuttle works good) to his hole and with shot gun in hand open the valve filling his hole with water. Within minutes he will come out and fire away! Works great and its very entertaining. :D

    Mineral Feeders

This is the only mineral feeder I would ever own. You will never waste any mineral with these. http://www.siouxsteel.com/index.php/product-detail/ground-mineral-feeder

    Trimble EZ Guide 250

I have an EZ guide plus, an EZ guide 250 and an outback S2. The EZ guide 250 is ok but like anything else you get what you pay for. If I had to do it over again I'd spend the extra $1000 and get the better one.

    Calf Shelters

http://www.balefeeder.com/calfshelter.htm This is the shelter I use. They are more expensive than a wood one but it will last a long time. They won't blow away in the wind and they are almost indestructable. Runnings in Bismarck sells them and I believe premier equipment in Mobridge SD...

    input on NH balers

I bought my 688 baler 6 years ago. I tie about 1000 bales per year with it. I have never replaced a bearing or anything else major on it. Once in a while 1 or 2 picker teeth but that is it. It is by far the best baler I have ever owned. Very simple to operate and I would strongly recommend it.

    fall rye/yellow sweet clover

I would try Hairy Vetch instead of clover. It is winter hardy and makes great feed. I seed it with winter triticale but rye is almost the same thing.

What do you call a farmer

I agree that was well stated. I think it's all about your geography and the natural resources available to you. In my area of southern ND we have a mix of good farmland and some native rangeland that is not fit to farm. The farmland gets farmed and the rangeland gets grazed because it is the...
