the TARP money that was loaned out to banks, AIG, GM, Chrysler that was repaid? I believe that all this has been repaid except some for AIG which they say they will pay, and a billion or so for Chrysler (that they are not going to repay)
Did it just evaporate? Don' hear anything about the...
Another idle question.
How do you all keep the helmet window from frosting/fogging up in real cold weather.
I take the wife's hair dryer and let it run on low when the helmet if off.
Works well, but can cause friction if it isn't kept clean.

Tex, the taxation of capital gains at a lower rate has a good justification. If you purchased a capital asset for $1000 twenty-five years ago and sold it today for $2000, you would get dinged for $150 in capital gains tax even though you suffered a real loss of more than half of...
Just another attempt to foment class warfare.
WW is so right - The US is so buried in debt at the personal, local government, state and federal level that any hope of extricating ourselves is a false hope, Even if we ignore the unrecorded debt of social security, medicare, medicaid.
And of...
Many states, if not all, have ways of collecting road taxes for fuels such as propane where tax cannot be collected at the pump, Why would electric cars be any different?

Flourescent light is dangerous.. I worked in offices lit by flourescent light and after 30 years, most of my hair fell out. Got some teeth missing and arthritis. Must have been the lights because I am only 74 years old.

Tex, I do not profess to be a tax accountant now, but I was a tax compliance manager for many years. I learned the tax law.
But I also learned that trying to teach outsiders was a waste of time - and I don't have enough time left to waste.

For crying out loud, Tex, go read the doggone law. Integrated oil companies haven't had depletion since the early 1980s. If you can't comprehend the law, quit preaching on it.

More years ago than I like to remember, we did all of our haying by hand with one team of horses. We mowed with a five-foot sickle mower, raked with a 12-foot dump rake and stacked with two guys with pitchforks onto a hayrack.
Then it was off to the stackyard where the hay was stacked again by...
I think the oil depletion allowance was phased out in the 1980s, I was working in the tax compliance unit of one of the largest oil companies at the time. We did an analysis (was done as an adjunct to our federal tax return) that showed that every field we owned and the percentage depletion...
We were plagued with flat tires caused by debris left from tearing down buildings and holes from some mean sagebrush,
I called a bunch of tire shops in the city and found a serviceable coates tire machine for $300. It needed a bit of welding, but it worked just fine and is still in use some...
I spent many years in the oil industry.
On the doiwnstream side(refining and marketing) the EPA promulgated regulation after regulation on refineries so that the cost of keeping up with them was more than the business was worth. We closed some refineries and sold others to companies that...
FH,
Actually, this is not my first post. I used to be Cowpuncher, but suddenly I couldn't login. After a quick look in the mirror, I figured that my new name was more appropriate anyway.
Actually, today is our 53 wedding anniversary.
