I have a couple of pups left from my last breeding ... 2 males 9 weeks old. Puppy testing score indicates they have the potential of strong cattle dogs. Mom and dad work both cattle and sheep. Mom is very strong driving dog.
The foundation of any training is obediance. I mean the sit, stay, recall, and stop. When you do this you establish who is boss which should make herding training go alot better in the long run.[/u][/b]
I know this is a little late but better late then never. Whistles are an important part of working together. They help the hanfler as much as the dog. My dogs don't like to be hollared at no matter how far away they are so the whistle is the ideal way of giving directions.

I participated a number of years ago and it seemed that if my dog passed anywhere near the sheep he was dq'd. Interestingly enough .... he was not a black and white dog .. and not a BC. Hmmmmm I wonder .... no I know what it was
