EMBRYO TRANSFER - IMPROVING BOVINE PREGNANCY RATES

Good advice, we have alot better stick rate with our embryos on the calmer cows. I have also noticed that rough handling within an AI program leads to lower conception rates.

    Tractors

I got a new 6130D last winter. For me it works great, I don't do any farming, just feeding cows and haying. Runs my Vermeer bale processor and my 567 baler great. Seems to be a tic better on fuel than my 6430 Premium JD. Baled about 2500 round bales this year, only complaint for that is that it...

Calf problem. Anybody seen this before?

Bull was same breed ( Black Angus ) as cows but should be fairly outcrossed, as his bulls in the past have been from people breeding popular, mainstream, power/growth/high milk type bulls. Still waiting for him to get the data back to me on the mothers of these calves, he should be able to tell...

Calf problem. Anybody seen this before?

Calves looked normal until about early Sept. Out of 11 head that I think are affected, you can only pick out two of them if they are just standing still. To pick out the rest, you have to get them walking.

Calf problem. Anybody seen this before?

It's going to be interesting how this plays out, hopefully we'll end up with an answer that is the right one. Looks like the next step will be some blood samples off to the state lab for mineral content and some samples to a genetic defect guru. At least I'll get some more roping in. Put...

Calf problem. Anybody seen this before?

Not sure on how close the cows are related yet, my uncle hasn't got that info rounded up for me yet. He's also going to figure out where the calves were for most of the summer. They were split up into three bunches. On the poisonous plants, a few that I know we have this year are Poison Vetch...

Calf problem. Anybody seen this before?

So far, I haven't found any info on the web and my vet has no idea either. Cattle are my uncles, but affected calves are sired by my bulls, so I would really like to figure this one out. The Problem: Showed up about the beginning of Sept on March and April born calves. Almost like the backbone...

    IM DONE WITH YOU BOYS

We raise some black angus bulls. With our system, we find that the calves out of the home raised bulls perform as well or better than most of our AI bull calves. BUT, as we only feed our bull calves range cake and grass hay and sell them as two year olds, the home raised genetics get way better...

Yes, very much what I'm looking for. Realtors seem to be at least 20% too high and the lease we just lost had to be run on the NRCP's grazing plan due to EQUIP money the guy got years ago. So much grass piled up that it is choking itself out in spots. [/img]

Thanks for the info Roundup, do you guys bury under with snow quite a bit in that country? Another question for you, I have seen quite a few places up for sale on the Musselshell, is there alot of older guys getting out or is there quite a bit of invester types pushing in? Thanks again

Should clarify a little on my post also. We're looking at some different places and figured this might be a good place to get some honest answers about stocking rates and wintering expectations from people close to the areas. Seems realtors sure like to fill a guy full of it. Can anybody give...
