    Cowcatcher, I didn't mean to imply anything. It's just that North CA is a big place and a lot rougher than people think. Don't want you to think you would be chasing cows through the redwood forests in the AM and laying on the beach in the sun in the PM. I'm curious about where this job is...

    So where in CA? What forest and ranger district? Mort has the right idea for N. CA, you use a lot of dogs and horse up in a hurry. Most of our area is very steep and very brushy. If there is truly that many slicks there is a reason they haven't been caught. Sounds like there is more to the story...

    Mort, I agree with you and I'm familar with your area, just curious if you knew what the outcome was. I guess my point was, we are going to see alot more of this and who is getting called to deal with these "strays" in your area.

    Mort or Nicky, I heard of two cases of horses being dumped on BLM this winter. What happened with them? Horse rescue? BLM corrals? Did they find those who did it? I think it was in the Bend/Prineville area. I think we are going to see alot more of this by "responsible" owners if the anti's win.

    Soapweed is right, Life is to short to put up with cows that hunt, and horses that will get somebody hurt. Sometimes the best training or top genetics don't work, and the best you can do isn't enough to get a positive outcome. I'd rather sell a bad one at a loss and come back to work and family...
