That was sapposed to say two v 8 s put together for a v16

    Big Bud

Standard motors I think were a v12 or a kt Cummins. The Cummins bankrupted them because they couldn't keep transmissions behind it (warranty). That v16 would have been cool. I suspect it was actually two via put together. You could do that with those old 2 strokes. Actually you know Detroit...

    Big Bud

Years ago they figured being biggest was their market niche but now they see their market niche in building hopefully smaller equipment that farmers can work at which is the opposite of everybody else. Look at pick up trucks. They haven't made anything I would want in the last 45 years. Why...

    Big Bud

I just heard and I think this is cool. After 30 years big bud is coming back and making tractors again. Why because according to big bud all the new tractors on the market are plastic computers that farmers cant or dont want to work at. Bud is going to be built with farmers doing repairs and...

More pics might help. In the first pick below the two levers closest to us. The longer lever on left is the throttle and the shorter lever on right is the splitter. I'm guessing I can shift splitter on the fly by pushing the lever and clutch the same time? In the second picture you see the 1st...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

Ended up buying a 3155 Johnny deer. Paid way more than what I figured it was worth but its exactly what I wanted. Front wheel assist, good condition and 265 grapple loader. I think its about 100 PTO HP with cab and 3 point hitch. We have a john Deere dealer in town and hopefully years down the...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

Looked at a 2590 case today. He wanted 18000. I offered 15000 and he didn't take it. Tractor was bit rough. Supposedly 8000 hrs .

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

That older stuff reaches a point sometimes when it isn't worth fixing. Gets expensive and hard to get parts. Those newer powershift transmissions ,oh its a lot of work to split stuff a part. That and just getting parts. Example something simple like getting a starter rebuilt. Nobody does this...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

I dont really watch the news because its to annoying. But what I'm tyold and I dont know if its true but our prime minister is talking about getting rid of fertilizer because of the environmental crazy people. Anyway this sounds crazy to me and makes no sense but even at today's fertilizer...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

It has to make sense. I'm looking for something to make me money. I can't just buy something because I want it. I'm pretty good at working at this stuff. Others are not. If they have to take these tractors to someone and pay them to split them a part they will never get there money back out of...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

Was bidding on a 1980s international 3488 today. It looked really good but I had some concerns about it. I figured 20,000 would be tops but I bid up to 25000 but others went to 27500 plus a 4 percent buyers fee. I initially hoped to buy it for 15000 I just can't see how it makes sense to spend...

Looking at a case 1494 fwa. 5000 hours. Only 75 PTO HP. I have a br7090 baler and a nh1475 haybind with 16 foot header. I'm thinking just to small?? It looks well cared for and has loader with bucket and a hay fork. Good heavy duty homemade looking fork.

I just checked. The JD 6310 is sold to someone else. Has anybody noticed that the new JD chore tractors or smaller ones are now mostly made in india? That 6310 was German made but the really new JD tractors. They say made in the USA but the components like the engine are made in India

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

Its flat where I'm at. I do plow a lot of snow. But I know I can get by with 2wd. Less to go wrong with 2 WD. Course thats what we used to say about pick up trucks years ago but now most people have 4 WD trucks. The front wheel assist with front traction tires would throw up more rocks at...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

The tractors I'm finding seem to be a bit to small or a bit to big. 80 to 85 PTO HP or 160 to 180 two of the small tractors are a jd2955 fwa or a two wheel drive JD 6310. Both about same hours and price. All things equal what which is better?

    JD 6310 Issues

This is an old thread but I was looking at buying a 6410 JD. Question for anybody still on this site would be do you feel an older 40 series JD even if it had 8 to 12 thousand hours on it would be a better buy?

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

If buying used and they dont have service records then I'm thinking its just best to assume 5000 hours on meter means 15000? Any other way to tell hours? Do you guys like ford or case? I see people buying at auctions but the power shifts are huge money if anything goes wrong and at these...

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

What PTO HP is your tractor? What kind of baler? Example my old JD 535 took less HP to run than the new Holland but the 535 couldn't really bale barley greenfeed or deffinately not straw behind a rotary combine. Couldn't but the same amount through it in the same time.

    Thoughts on buying used tractors

100 to 140 pto hp would be about right for me but it seems like bigger 160 to 180 hp example case 2590 or ford tw35 seem to actually sell for less money. My baler is a br7090. Doing straw with a smaller tractor you can feel how tough the straw is or a problem by how much your engine lugs or...
