What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

I'm pretty sure they are 4 inch belts...I'll measure, but you don't have to go through the trouble of that! You have a lot going on! Again, I think that's great you got that place! Awesome stuff!

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

Thanks for all the tips and warnings, littlejoe! I was even going to ask that about what to have in the fire extinguishers. I'll check on that chain on the other side! My belts are pretty smooth, with tiny little circles on them. I'm hoping I won't have to replace them all.

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

I haven't hooked it to the tractor yet. It's a International 241, which seems to get cussed a bunch to say the least on the internet here. About every other thing I read is someone having trouble getting the bale started. I'm just preparing for that first day using. Yeah, I have a lot up in...

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

Thanks, Denny! That's sounds like an easy enough thing that I would be able to do to it! I'm still going to do all the small square baling I have storage for, but am excited to not have to pay for custom big baling any more and have a quick option for if rain is coming or something if I'm...

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

Thanks! hmmmm. The roller is pretty smooth....well, it feels a little gritty, but I think that is the rust... :D I also seen where a person can weld beads of tracks across them???

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

The deal is....I feel I was forced to play my hand and get an old round baler that my M can run. I only have $1700 total wrapped up in a tractor, mower, rake, small square baler and now this baler all together. I figured I might have to do a little something to this baler. It does have all new...

What to put on the upper drive roll on an old round baler?

I see where people have sprayed rhino liner on them to help get the hay started rolling easier, wrapped them in rubber, put some kind of traction pipe tape stuff on them, etc... Anybody have any thoughts on what I should do? Thanks!

Question for the net-wrapped bale unrollers

I take an ax to weedy bales and weedy stuck and/or frozen net wrapped bales. I can't stand even an inch of twine or net wrap laying out there....or leaving any tiny amount behind!!!

What is the primary truck brand on your operation?

Faster horses - I love the gooseneck brand trailers! Real tough imo! I hang up plywood in it during winter months for critter warmth. I had a 24ft 1976 one for awhile....sold it shortly after I got this 32' one for more than I paid for it. The '76 still had the original floor in it and I...

What is the primary truck brand on your operation?

The biggest problem I ever had pulling with my Dodge was going through cities... :D People would swarm my trailer like bumble bees, taking pictures of my bulls and would just camp out beside my trailer....I'd miss exits I needed to take.... :D :D :D This isn't a Dodge is better than...

What is the primary truck brand on your operation?

I love my '01 Dodge 1 ton 4x4 dually!... :D I followed one to work about every morning for a couple years before I was able to get one. Man, I wanted one real bad! 10 years later, I still find myself sitting and looking at! I'm going to go look at it now... :D

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

I was just watching that, too!!! AWESOME!!! I always check out the days programmimg on RFDtv to see if I need to be in the house for something at a certain time. I will have a team someday! I thought all that stuff they showed on there today was just neat as heck! What a way to do things...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

I have never seen a sharpener like that. Thanks! Thanks for the tips! Doesn't look like I'll be doing any second cuttings or custom second cuttings for my one neighbor, so I am done for the year. I may fork some big bale hay through it though and mess with it. I forked a good amount of hay...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

Interesting, hayguy. Thanks! How do you guys sharpen them? I have tried a file and hitting them with a grinder when the whole wiper arm is off. Is there a good way that will really help the situation?

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

I'll add too.....that I thought it was great when I got a new wiper arm because I broke one while shaping it and the new ones have easily removable twine knives on them. I was shaping a wiper arm in a vice before I knew how to do it while the assembly is flipped up. Anyway, I didn't check to...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

Will do! Thanks! I didn't have any knotter assemblies flipped up at all this year, where last year I had them flipped up every 3 bales and the whole shooting match off a few times. I bet you're right. When it misses, it leaves a string that is about the length of two bales worth with loops...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

on the knotter talk....my left knotter only missed a few bales this year, but my right one misses 2 in a row every 20 to 30.... :D . The knots my right knotter did tie were good as gold, so I was afraid to mess with it after what I went through last year... :D ...and just pitchforked all the...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

:D :D :D I can see the tv remote up on the table there, but I need someone to get it for me.... :D It's not my fault, I'm a victom of today's society.... :D . There's an old timer down the road a ways that I have only seen a couple times. He walks with his back completely horizontal...

RA, you don't need No stinkin' tractor

:D ....I'm extremely fasinated by the old way of ranching and homesteading!!! It makes a lot of sense to me! I ran a scythe one day though... :D That night I couldn't lay down, sit or stand up because my back hurt so bad... :D . I imagine I used bad technique as well as not being used to...
