BMR, sorry to hear about your Dad. Such a bittersweet time that is, with the memories and wishes for more time, if it can be of at least tolerable quality for the elder family member. And I can't imagine a -51% temperature. I certainly don't want to witness it! We can get some pretty terribly...

    Board Upgrade

ps to my previous post: by 'elder', member here, I mean both my actual age, and time since I began posting here. I do know that I will be 79 late in July, and don't recall when I began reading and posting here, but it's been a while!!!! Yes, I believe it gets a little boring at times, no I...

    Cattle Today

I agree. more comments = more learned, for better or worse, and it can always be ignored if too boring, or too controversial, most anyone can usually find something to do. mrj

    Board Upgrade

Being one of the 'elder' members here, and not very adventurous in finding things to 'share', I get along ok. May use the 'thumbs up' sometime. Mostly rely on a grandkid, or great-grand (eldest of the latter is 6!) when I need help. mrj

It is great fun to have the 're-runs' to enjoy, Mustang! Thanks for posting them. We have enjoyed a pretty warm and dry winter here just north of exit 170 on I-90 in western SD, yet I'm still wishing for spring to hurry up and get here, hopefully bringing some rain. No wishes for snow from me...

    We must have been geniuses

That phone was easy compared to the one at my grandparents 'farmhouse! It hung high on the wall, was a wooden cabinet maybe 18" high by 12" wide, and 6" deep. Had a hand held receiver hanging on the right side of the cabinet, a mouth-piece to speak into on the front center area of the cabinet...

US Government "food pyramid" further debunked

It does seem odd that grains have long been touted by govt agencies as 'healthful', while beef has to have someone either write a book detailing their own diet successes from eating a high meat diet, or do our own research and point out that beef is one of very few foods people choose on their...

US Government "food pyramid" further debunked

Seems like 'govt' may be using the hallowed food pyramid to get rid some of the surpluses they keep encouraging farmers to produce more of......grains/bread. Ranchers have had to work pretty hard to get beef recognized as what it is...….a top-notch food for humans! mrj

    Mustang Pictures--------------

Thanks for sharing the photo's, mustang! That's as close as I'll ever get to them, I'm sure! btw, which state are they located in? We were in sw WY earlier this month and I wondered if we could have been near some 'wild horse' country. The pics always make me think it's a shame more of those...

When you think they can't get any dumber

One has to wonder how much 'recreational' drugs have influenced such stupidity. That may account for the ability to overcome, or to not feel the pain during the application. Hopefully they will at some time in life understand just how stupidly they acted, and find ways to make amends. mrj

    Tooth

Our five year old great grand dau. lost her first one a few weeks ago while eating Skittles......and unhappily proclaimed "I will never eat another Skittles again" ! I believe within very few days she was happily eating them again. Second tooth came out with less pain because the new tooth was...

Thanks, yet again, Mustang. It is nice to see them in what I assume is pretty good condition for this time of year. The one about six up from bottom is my favorite of this bunch. mrj

Kosmo Kid's "Letter to his Daughter"

Soapweed and family, somehow, I missed this 'beginning of the story' but knew of a mystery abduction of sorts. That you all have suffered much.....and grown tremendously in strength and love for one another in the process is very apparent. Hopefully, it helps all of us to follow your example...

    Shalom !

jigs, it's great that you had such a good time seeing where it all started, but am sorry you feel the need to put down teachings you seem not to understand, in that you say we "should not follow a pope, pastor, or deacon". Isn't there a difference between a leader of worship sessions, and...

    Boots

BMr, I understand about not wearing favorite or newer boots 'for good' anymore. People just don't 'dress up' or make it a special occasion when they go to public events, even to church or other special events anymore. Women are more likely to than men, it seems. Guess we females need the excuse...

    Boots

They do look very nicely made, and even appear to be similar to the Blucher boots of years ago. We each got a pair of those way back when we thought we would get our moneys' worth out of them, at least 50 years ago, maybe 55. Mine are in pretty good shape, since I've not been able to get them...

    Mustang Pictures--------------

Another great show for us, and thanks so much for sharing with us, Mustang. This time, the 028 is my favorite. Usually can't see past any shade of blue/gray, but maybe it is the 'baby' look that catches my eye, tho I do favor buckskins and duns, too, if they have the black mane and tail. It is...

    Mustang Pictures--------------

Thanks Mustang. I always enjoy the horse photo's.........and the scenery is great too! That sunset is a lot like one we had here a few days ago. We can get some extremely colorful sunsets in western SD. And an occasional sunrise is pretty spectacular, too. Just thinking about them makes me think...

    Ft. Pierre

re. the "but I want the next guy to make something, too." It's good to see that comment! Since the first small local auction market I went to with my dad MANY years ago, I've heard too many people (including auctioneers of all people!) berating the cattle feeders there to buy calves for not...
