Can't Afford a Bull This Year!

We averaged $4483 on our two year old Red Angus bulls we had at the Medicine Hat Bull Sale. The average was 4550.00 on the Angus and $5130 on the herfs. It is awesome to see all the smiles back on the faces of the commercial guys! We still have private treaty bulls for sale at watsoncattle.ca

Well I was in Poccotello anyway, so you did not miss me Cowsense. The weather suits me just fine as we can make it rain on the irrigated crop land and we have the pasture reserves for this year.

I didnt get my cows home from pasture until two weeks ago, so i have not sold the culls yet. Be darned if the old...

    Bull Sale Season

h76 Jeanette is a great lady. We bought a pile of cows off of KHR back in the 90,s because they are run in conditions very similar to ours. are her and George still out on the ranch?

    Cow that can't get up

I have always been able to save them if they split themselves on ice. Take her feed and water and roll her over every day. One day you will go out and she will be standing. It takes work, but $1000.00 + cows are worth it imo.

    Bull Sale Season

Thanks Guys. The interest this year is great and the first two calls produced three sales. I have yet to completely finish the descriptions and pedigree info so check again. My web site is giving me fits because it randomly ads the bulls to the list. I would like to have them show in numerical...

    Too clip or not?

Another way to look at it Denny. Do you knock the slag off your welds and grind off the splatter before you present a fixed trailer to your customer?

    Good Sale

NR. I thought that was the Stan from my neck of the woods! Good cattleman with an excellent set of cows and a good eye for bulls. I just about fell over when he told me the Old Post storey. Stan does not like the extreme creep fed fattys or the typical bull sale shennanigans and buys the bull he...

A new slant on selling bulls

We had a pretty fair turn out to our open house and sold just over 1/4 of the bulls. Every one to repeat customers. Average price was $3250.00. I really enjoyed being able to spend time with each individual buyer and having a stress free day. I dont miss the sale one bit!

    Carrier Bulls

We moved all Red Angus carriers into our commercial program and tested all their offspring when the defect of the month was identified. The gelbvieh cattle have not been hit with this defect testing issue. As much as i believe alot of this genetic testing is a pure money grab and a strong arm...

A new slant on selling bulls

Trust me I did not give up the auction sale approach without thought. here are the points that caused me to change our approach. 1) sale day is totally dependant on the weather 2) a sale wreck for any reason ruins the down the road price for no - sales 3) sale day costs are very high due to...

A new slant on selling bulls

NR. The issue has come up already with some of my long time customers. I have told them to be there on the fourth and first come first served. I have a couple of customers that want the bull they want and will pay any price to get it. They wont be happy when a guy buys it out from under them...
