A truck load of steers about to go for a ride to their new home.

We were weaning calves today an sold a couple of calves for 4H steers. I just happened to have taken a picture a few days ago of the one calf that was selected today. This particular calf weighed in at 835 lbs and is 210 days old today. The other one lagged behind at 770. Proud rancher moment...

'H, you don't need to be of service, you can just wander up here any dang time you like. We can either find something to do, something to hunt, or just sit around and tell each other how clever we are.

Thanks 'H. But the trade off is that they only get that stuff for 5 months or less. The other 7 months they are on welfare.

The weather prognosticators on Rural Radio today were claiming substantial rainfall is on it's way up through the plains and into the prairie provinces. Hope you get your share.

Great to see the 4H pic, such a great experience for the kids. I sold a pair of steers to a couple of neighbour girls last fall for their first ever 4H project. I have enjoyed watching the girls excitement and the steers progression.

I had never heard this about alfalfa and deep snow either. Thankfully our cows also haven't heard as they've been eating it that way for decades.

That box on the front of Kosmo's truck would hold the wrap from at the most 2 of our net wrapped bales this winter. Good looking outfits, both of them. I might have asked this before, but forgot the answer. Do you have to take a tractor to space the bales so the bale beds can grab them? Or...

Thanks for the pics Nicky, you have a lot more snow than we do for sure. I guess where you live you have to consider how the snow will drift in for all sorts of situations.

I always understood it was older cows in the right environment. We are fortunate for it to be a non issue up here.

I too have amassed a respectable sized collection of chainsaws. Many of them will run for a few seconds and then quit. Only one has the trusted status to accompany me on the fenceline :lol:

Y'know 'H, it's a helluva thing to blame your new hog habit on your kids like that. You can just fess up, some of us won't hardly tease you at all.

Thanks for the trip 'H. Those old abandoned places always leave me feeling a little sad thinking of the untold stories and the I always feel a sense of loss. But they are sure interesting to see so keep posting them.

We have finally been getting some snow for the first time this winter. Started right when the calves started coming! I think we have about 6" on the ground. Hopefully it fills dugouts.
