For Cowboys & Caviar on March 1, Creig Butler, owner of Red Bear Guides (www.redbearguides.com) has donated a 10 day Brown Bear Hunt in Chignik, Alaska. Red Bear Guides is a full service guide and outfitting service specializing in Alaskan Brown Bear. Creig is a licensed guide who has been guiding hunts for years in Chignik, Alaska. Chignik features over 100 miles of coast line, salmon streams, and mountains with some of the highest density of large brown bear in the state. This area produces incredible bears in the 9-10 foot class. The hunter who wins this once in a lifetime opportunity will be accompanied by a trained guide. Mobility is the key element for success. The guides use boats and airplanes to give you the best opportunity for a successful trip. They provide fully guided hunts, and accommodations and meals at the base camp. Cost of travel, lodging and meals is not included to and from base camp. Although the winner must get himself to the base camp, Red Bear Guides takes it from there. Retailing at over $18,500, this will be the adventure of a lifetime. Hunting license, tags, and permits must be purchased by the winner prior to the start of the hunt, at approx. $600. This hunt is scheduled for October 1-10, 2009, giving you plenty of time to get into excellent physical condition to face the Alaskan wilderness. Cowboys and Caviar is the main fundraiser of the Children's Advocacy Center serving Bastrop, Lee and Fayette counties (www.childrensadvocacycenter.org). It will be held on March 1 at Riverbend Park in Smithville from 6p to 12a. It is truly a spectacular event with dinner, dancing, live and silent auction, raffle and lots of fun. Tickets are $75 each, purchased in advance; but if a hunter is coming to bid on the 10 day Bear Hunt then tickets can be purchased at the door. Over 450 people will be in attendance from not only the tri-county area but also Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston and San Antonio.
